Vehicle Detail
A 1982 Honda Goldwing GL1100 Interstate in very good condition: 40,842 milesThe bike's color is Wineberry (burgundy); my favorite of the Honda colors of that timeStarts easily, idles smoothly, and shifts well. The bike is equipped with trunk and saddlebags taken from another Goldwing.Rear tire has ~50% tread remaining, front tire ~30%. The buyer should consider getting a new front tire.A new battery was installed last year. I purchased this machine a bit over 20 years ago from a lawyer whose wife didn't appreciate the charms of motorcycle riding. I've taken care to maintain the bike over the years (always garaged, regular oil changes and other maintenance, etc.). The bike and I traveled from Iowa to the Pacific Coast twice, but otherwise, most of the miles were going back and forth to work, on jaunts to visit relatives in Wisconsin, and for local camping trips. The bike has never had a mechanical failure, or been in any kind of accident. The structure paintwork (fenders, tank cover, side panels) is in very good condition. There is some spot rust on the exhaust pipes. Some dirty dog swiped the snap-on leather cover for the left fairing pocket while the bike was parked at the grocery store. The motorcycle, when I bought it, came equipped with some truly awful non-Honda luggage, which I used for a few years, then threw away in frustration, relying on some leather saddlebags donated by a friend, plus a plastic cooler strapped to the tail rack. This sufficed for the limited touring, plus camping and fishing trips. A couple of years ago, I purchased bags and trunk taken from an Aspencade. The luggage is in OK shape, but not as good as the rest of the bike. The color is a metallic brown, and my intention was to re-key and re-paint to match the bike, but this did not happen, due mainly to my purchase of a newer 'Wing. Have a look at the pictures; the color match is not disastrous (like turquoise, for example), but a buyer interested in this great Goldwing, may want to finish the job properly.
