Vehicle Detail
For sale is a very rare car; a 1966 Jaguar 3.8S. The original "S-type" Jaguars are very special as only 51 of the 3.8 LHD Automatics are still in the USA. Only 1316 LHD S-types were made in 1966. What makes the S-type so special compared to the MK II? The S-type was a major reredelopment; inboard diskbrakes, IRS, the suspension was a revelation at the time of its introduction and remained the benchmark against which others were judged till the 1980's giving it a 54" track against the 50" track of the E-type producing a better ride and handling. A new steering system was used replacing the MK IIs (this car now has rack and pinion steering) more interior space, larger trunk, picnic table in the front, more wood, wider front seats with a fold down arm rests and twin fuel tanks with separate fuel pumps. This car was found in a garage in York PA after attending the Carlisle PA Auto show back in 2005 by my father. It had set in storage since 1983 and something my father never got around to finishing. Since we took possession it has never been outside. Bought from the second owner who bought it 1-30-73. car is Deep Brown with Brown Leather interior. The seats have been cracking in nthe laeather and are dried out. headliner is in great condition but rear shelf material has disintegrated. the wood on the dash is perfect and the dash board is beautiful as are the door panels. this car has crank windows and hub caps. The chrome is all in wonderful condition as well. car has been repainted but paint is all in great condition but there is some cracking of the paint on the roof. This car is complete and original. have not tried to start but no sreason it should not unless it needs to be freed up. Still have the original title which was printed 1-30-73. I will post more pics of the interior and any others you might want to see. Your chance to own a very rare car that is complete and unmolested and well taken care of.
