Vehicle Detail
UP FOR NO RESERVE AUCTION, this 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300SDL Turbodiesel Sedan. For those unfamiliar with the history of Mercedes S-Class sedans, this was the top of the line, extended wheelbase version of one of the greatest highway cruisers ever made, and the last of the "Bank Vault" Mercedes. The doors shut with a reassuring "thunk" indicative of the build quality and stout steel unibody construction of these cars, just like a bank safe. Several years ago I had a broadside collision in one of these cars at 65 MPH when someone pulled across the highway without seeing me. I walked away without a scratch, and actually put 50K more miles on it after getting it fixed. The other car was scrapped. I bought this particular car about two years ago with deer damage to the front, fixed it, and have been driving it since with the intent of giving it to my son as a first car, but our family situation has changed, so I have to sell it. It has a lot of new parts, is extremely reliable, and gets 26-27 MPG all day long. Here are the details: The Good: Four New BFGoodrich touring tires on refinished factory alloys New Radiator, Water Pump, Fan Clutch, and Serpentine Belt New Brakes New Transmission Filter and Fluid New Injector Return Lines New Glow Plugs Sony CD Stereo Starts in 0 degree weather without being plugged in Rides and drives beautifully, while getting great fuel mileage for a car of its size Built like a tank The Bad: A/C not hooked up Auxilary heat (water) pump needs replacement, but new one is included in sale to address intermittent heat issue No cancerous rust, but clear coat is peeling, and has a few spots shown in the pictures, such as the hood wrinkled from the deer Cruise control non-functional Interior is clean and presentable, but shows its age, and could use some seat covers. Odometer broke at 206K miles. I replaced it with a used unit, and the original comes with the sale, so the mileage is accurate. In short, a beautiful, reliable, classy, efficient, affordable and safe car with a lot of miles left in it. It is still a daily driver so mileage may be slightly higher at auction close. TERMS OF SALE: This is an auction, meaning that highest bidder owns the vehicle, and is contractually obligated to pay the high bid. I have tried to represent the car as best I can, will offer the car for test drives, and will answer any questions I can; however, it is sold AS IS. Any inspections or questions must be satisfied before the auction closes. $500.00 deposit due within 24 hours of auction close, and full payment due 5 days from auction close. I am happy to coordinate with your shipper, but the car must be picked up within 14 days unless we come to an express, written agreement otherwise.
