Vehicle Detail

0 0 1 361 2063 University of the Pacific 17 4 2420 14.0 Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Extremely rare, very early (1953 build date) long door TR2. TS 141. This car was originally purchased in Orange California and has stayed in California its entire life. The car was owned by the same family until a few years ago when it was purchased and briefly owned by a person living in Moorpark, CA. I purchased the car from him and moved it to my shop in Northern California. I’m a Triumph and British car enthusiast and have owned some very nice cars in the past A-H BJ7, Bugeye, Triumph Spitfire, GT6, TR4, TR4A etc… This is my last British car and the one I value the most for its historic significance. It is rare to find a complete TR2 with this early build date and with known history. I also talked with the original owner on the phone and documented the history from his perspective. Original body color was black (car repainted blue), leather seats, carpet and weather equipment were Geranium. Wide whites came from the factory. This car also participated in the “economy run” during the mid-1950s. This TR2 comes with the original engine TS 188E and transmission and almost all of the “hard to find” parts including the Baby Tenax fasteners and original carbs/intake manifold. The car needs a full restoration. It comes with a spare engine in very good condition from a later TR3 for parts. The shop that installed the newer engine did not return the low-port head, so I picked up a re-buildable low-port head and exhaust manifold. Also new floors from The Roadster factory and a new battery tray will be included. Side curtains and weather equipment is included and can be used for a pattern or rebuilt. The seats need to be rebuilt. The original aluminum bonnet is in great shape with one small repairable stress crack by a hinge. This car has a steel spare tire door, not aluminum and this appears original. The body and tub are in very good shape and will need welding/rust repairs typical of dryer Triumphs of this era (bottom of front fenders where they meet the supports). The spares I’ve picked up I’ll include such as NOS pistons, rings and liners, books, manuals etc… One missing item is the original early grab handle – it has the later one. Not included in the sale but available for purchase are a perfect reproduction early thermostat housing, concourse tool kit, jack and rigid cooling pipe. $1,000 deposit due 48 hours after close of auction. Please e-mail for details and questions. Remember, this needs a full restoration, but is a great candidate. A black TR2 on eBay recently went for $40,000 and did not sell. This car fully restored can be better and an earlier example. Good luck! Car is located in Northern California about 30 minutes south of Sacramento.
