Vehicle Detail
Selling my 2000 Honda Insight hybrid, which has only 96K miles. If you have done your research on these great little cars, you know that with care, these can be expected to run for 250,000 miles and more. This one has been babied, garaged and regularly serviced. I have religiously changed the oil about every 3K miles, using the correct OW20 full synthetic oil and filter changes. I have every shred of paperwork on the care since I bought it as the second owner, and I have some paperwork from the original owner. I even have her name and contact information, and printouts from the dealers where she had the car serviced. This car is nice inside and out, as the pictures show. I just had it detailed and it will be clean and ready to go when you buy it. As far as I know the car needs nothing. I'm selling because I bought an AWD car after this horrible winter we had. This is a front wheel drive car, but it is low to the ground, so we kept it garaged and drove our big SUV when it was snowy. The car is rated 70 mpg by the EPA. If you don't believe me, Google it. As you can see, the lifetime average MPG, which is both highway and city is about 52 mpg. I have never reset that reading. I personally have gotten 83 mpg three times on highway trips. My highway average most of the time is in the upper 60's, as I tend to keep up with traffic. Around town I get solid low 50's mpg. Now, here is the good part: there are two HUGE and costly things that can be wrong with these cars which you MUST watch out for. If the catalytic converter goes bad, you are looking at about a $1500 repair. The way you tell is the MPG drops to a gas hog high 40's mpg. (Lol.) This car has exhibited no signs of a bad CC. The second big ticket item you can get socked with is the hybrid battery. MINE HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED. That was replaced in October of 2011 at 64K miles, and a cost of $2500. I have the paperwork to show this was done by my Honda dealer. Because of this, it is highly unlikely that you will ever need another hybrid battery on this car. They tend to last a long time, and so I've already eaten that repair cost for you. Check out my 600+ and 100% rating which includes several car and motorcycle sales. I don't cheat people. Life is just too short. I am about an hour and 15 minutes from Indianapolis International Airport, so if you want to fly in to get the car, I can deliver it to the airport if you can drive me back or pay a small additional charge so I can have someone follow me and bring me home.
