Vehicle Detail
What a great Jeep. I bought it in 2010 and have been adding to it ever since. I am the second owner. It was a stock lady driven jeep until I purchased it in 2010 with 104k miles. It was a stock as they come even with steel wheels (See picture). It was the perfect jeep for my bucket list goal and pet project to trick out a Jeep. It wasn't until the 4 door version came out that I knew it was the time to dive in. Like many guys, I started out telling my wife "I was going to do just a few things to it. Two years later and probably well over $10k in parts and labor, here it is. I do have a Smitty spare tire carrier not welded on the custom bumper yet. All work was done by Master mechanics. Oh' sure... I screwed in tail light guards, wired lights, grab handles etc, but any real work like suspensions lifts, gears etc was done by professionals. So many things have been done. Here's a list as best I can recall: Rugged Ridge 4.5 full suspension lift and longer rear arms.37" Toyo Tires on Rock Star rims. G2 4.88 gears. Front and rear heavy gauge custom bumpers. Custom rock guard running boards. 9k lb. Warn Winch. Adams front and rear drive shafts. Front and rear adjustable sway bars with heavy duty sway bar mounts welded. Ram Air Snorkel. Rugged Ridge dual shock steering stabilizer. Steering box. 2" body lift kit. 3/4 coil over front leveling spacer to compensate winch weight. Stainless steel extended break line kit and heavy duty ceramics break pads. JK quick front disconnects. Shifter extension kit. Arm, Evap, and oil pan skid plates. Rear Dif cover. Rugged Ridge Mud Guards, Tail Light guards, Cargo mat, Grab Bars, Hood Lock, Rocker Panel step guards, Jack Mount, and Fire Extinguisher mount. Rugged Ridge windshield light mounts with 100 watt off road lights. Reverse back up 50 watt lights. Rear flip up interior storage rack. Daystar rocker switches and panel. Extra replacement OEM vinyl top and channel brackets in case ever needed. I should have the original clear zip in windows too, but don't hold me to it. I haven't seen them in a while. Pictures: One photo is of the Jeep stock and another with 35' tires flexing in a washed out driveway. The rest of the photos were taken last weekend. If you see it a photo, it comes with it...water bottle excluded. To be fair, assume there are some imperfections here and there. After waxing, the jeep sat for a week and got dusty and rained on creating spots and specs seen in some pictures. Any little spots you may see in the close up photos are probably specs of dust. I live down a dirt road and cannot drive 30 feet without some dust. If you see evident lines in a photo its a scratch. Specs of dust should be just that. There is a little blemish..I hate to even call it that.. on the driver side rear door near the pillar caused by my Grand Sons head...long story, but you probably won't ever notice, but its there. Original Parts: I have all the original parts that came off the Jeep besides the bumpers and rims. OEM Bumpers can be bought cheap, if ever needed. I gave mine away to a fellow Jeep friend. I also have the Rock Star plastic chrome center star caps, if you like the look. Paint / Finish: I feel the Jeep is in great shape. I have waxed the jeep, but have not spent any time on the few scratches on the sides caused by some branches. The scratch on the hood is the deepest and was there and touched up when I bought it. I purchased factory paint in an aerosol can with clear coat to re-do the hinges...a common issue due to road grime flying up. The front mud guards and rock guards help stop that now. I imagine you could fix that hood scratch with that too. The small body scratches could be buffed out, I think. The paint has an great deep sparkle to it. People love it. Off Road use: My biggest four wheeling was done one time in a planned circle track for a promotional video for a real estate developer seen on their facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=501870769832455. It had 35 Terra Grapplers at the time. Otherwise, it has been on a few logging roads going through the occasional dry wash out as pictured again with the 35's. I haven't done much since putting on the 37's a year ago. The disconnects works great for off road. I will say, since going to the 37's, the rear tires will scrape when flexing. I had the fender wells trimmed a little, but could probably use some more. When turning full left, a front tire will rub on an arm too. Neither is a big deal and hardly ever concerned me. If I were more of an off roader, I would want to improve the rear fender wells. I just didn't have an issue being as my friends call me...."a Mall Crawler"... Thanks guys. On Road use: Runs down the road great. I'm a nut about alignments and have always rotated tires and checked alignments. $400 a tire you will too! Had Tie Rods ends replaced about 10k miles ago. For 3 years, I worked out of town driving about 160 miles round trip over the interstate once or twice a week. Perhaps, the best part about the Jeep is it was designed to be first and foremost a pleasure to drive on road. Secondly, it is very well equipped for trail riding. It's perfect for local urban Jeep Riding clubs and turns heads everywhere. If you want a rock crawler, this isn't it or you may want to spend more money to get it there, however, you will lose some of that on road pleasure. My wife loves to drive the Jeep too. It's hard keeping her out of it except when it get's low on gas..... Not that women can't drive great, but I had an old '72 Bronco that was like flying Helicopter. It seemed like every arm and leg was moving to keep it straight on the road. She didn't like the Bronco. Why Am I selling it? This is pathetic, but I'm driving a Mini Van now. Vehicular castration, I know. The van gets better gas mileage and with Grandchildren now, it's a lot more practical. The Jeep probably hasn't driven a thousand miles since Jan. 2013. I own it outright and am thinking I can get a Ranger Crew and a used convertible in its stead I will use more. Exchanging toys, if you will. Anything wrong or needing replaced? The vinyl windows have the usual scratches. The top was sewn around the first seam where it folds back. The top will leak when sitting as they all do. Every Jeep leaks. Just embrace it now and save yourself the frustration. I have pulled the drain plugs and any small drip dries out quickly. If you can keep it under roof, you'll be okay. No major leaks. Just by the seat belt of corner roof pillars. This is why I bought the extra top and channel brackets, but have been told by dealers and other owners, you seem to just keep chasing water drops. It has no leaks along the top center windshield area. The 50 watt back up lights are rusty. They are cheap $20 Walmart specials. Fact is most lights even "marine grade" will rust out. They work great still and are a 5 minute install. One of the driving lights in the front bumper isn't working. I suspect a corroded wire. All connections have that electric grease to prevent moister. Probably an easy butt connector re-wire. The windshield and front bumper mounted lights work great. Again, inexpensive, but work well. I just didn't have the heart to pay $200 a pair to let them fade and rust with age. I think these were like $25 a pair. Bulb blows...buy a whole new pair. Lastly, the center steering wheel cover where the air bag is has popped its seam a little. I'm told it's common. Each time you honk the horn, it puts pressure on the seam No one sees it, but you, if you're looking. The interior of the rear hatch door has some dings and wear marks from stuff being stored back there. Things like trailer hitches, straps, tire iron etc have wiggled back there for years causing what you see. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning after you see the picture. The spare tire is a brand new 35" tire not a 37". You would want a 37" to match the others, thus the purchase of the Smitty Built spare tire carrier. It has to be fabricated on to the rear bumper. The OEM carrier will not hold a 37. I'm probably over reacting with what is mentioned, but I want to be 110% open with buyers. I'm all about under promising and over delivering. Misc.: Not sure what else to tell you. I'm a proactive repair guy always replacing or improving before I have to. Oil changed every 3k. You can add about half a quart between changes...something I was told you can do with almost any of these. Clutch is original and never an issue. All fluids changed probably 10k miles ago. The engine has been rock solid, with never an issue. I have purposely not detailed the engine compartment so you can inspect it for possible leaks etc. Power steering pump was replaced as the old one started groaning. Tie rods replaced as mentioned earlier. AC checked each spring, but always good. We have dogs so I know there's some hair here or there. No odors, but if your allergic to dogs, don't buy the Jeep. Who owns a Jeep and not a dog too?;) No stains anywhere. Very clean for a 7 year old Jeep. Test Drives: Happy to facilitate test drives. Value, Terms, & Financing: NADA reports the Stock Value with the mileage at just under $17k retail. It needs nothing and is retail front line show ready as a used car buddy says. I have probably well over $10k invested not counting my own time and labor puttering around. I'd be crazy to think I would get all my money out of it...unless you are crazy then please come pay more than you should. I put a fair and probably low reserve for a hassle free quick sale for a great 4 door Jeep. My Wife thinks I'm crazy for the price, but I understand you don't get out every penny extra you put in. Imagine if she knew what I really spent! (She's not an Ebayer.) Disclaimers: I'm not a mechanic. I make no guarantees about the Jeep. I love it. Two Master Mechanics can't find a thing wrong with it. If there was ever a noise, I had it checked out and fixed, but that doesn't mean it won't make a noise 50 miles down the road. I'd drive it today across country and love every mile, though the 15MPG would stink, but then again it would be a Jeep adventure. The Jeep is sold as is with no written or implied warranty. Buyer be aware this is an outstanding Jeep, but comes without a crystal ball. The Jeep is for sale locally so I reserve the right to cancel the auction at anytime. Happy to help with picking you up at the Asheville Airport (2miles away). or meeting a shipping truck nearby. If you pick it up, I'll buy lunch and we can talk Jeeps. Happy to help anyway I can. Winning bidder is expected to place a $500 non refundable deposit and pay in full with cash or cashiers check within 7 days at conclusion of the auction or before pickup. Happy to work with you on pick up time and schedules. The longer the delay, the more non-refundable deposit may be required. Questions: Please call or email me, if you like. My cell phone is 828-231-6966. Call Eastern Standard Time until 10PM. Summary: It's a great 4 door family Jeep ready for the next generation of users and admirers. My wife wishes I would keep it to pass on to my Grandsons, but know we have our memories and can create even more with the next toy adventure. Feel free to call or email any questions. Thank you all and happy bidding. Some one will get a great Jeep, I know it.
