Vehicle Detail
This is an untouched unrestored unrusted survivor very low option 1966 Chevelle 300 coupe. Purchased by its original owner off the showroom floor here in the San Francisco area and owned by the original owner until I purchased it in the Fall of 2013 (I still have original title). Original black plate California registered car. Bench seats (fawn interior to my estimation), floor mat (no carpet), heater delete, power steering, manual brakes, 327 2 bbl powerglide with column shift, 10 bolt rear (I assume non-posi and don't know gear ratio), 14 inch matching paint skinny Chevy steel wheels. This car is very dry throughout with only the merest surface oxidation on some of the underneath chassis parts. Solid metal everywhere. Motor runs like a top. 77,xxx original miles (as appear on the odometer and represented to me at purchase). I bought this car in the Marina district in San Francisco from the wife (widow) of the original owner. I have not had the car serviced nor professionally inspected (I just did my own eyeball, fluid checks and driving check before purchasing). I have driven the car locally and on the highway and it starts right up, very smooth and torquey on the low end take offs. Pulls willingly through to the top end. Very stable and sturdy on the local city streets. Very quiet at idle and when under power. Rolls down the highway very smoothly and straight tracking. The car does not wander or drift (good alignment) and does not pull to either side under braking. No leaks or smoke. I bought this car simply because you never ever see an original survivor condition Chevelle coupe anywhere. The car does have dents as appear in the picture. They are all on the passenger side of the car and appear they all result from being driven by senior citizen drivers in tight parking and maneuvering spaces (driver side of the car is not dented). Interior needs a good clean and would be very nice with new seat covers, rear window deck and detailing (headliner is fine). I was considering doing an on frame restoration (new seat covers and dent work) and also perhaps doing a resto mod (perhaps LS swap) or street race type (big block) conversion. The seafoam paint has an awesome patina. I took it to a reputable body shop, who wanted to run dent repair and a respray for about $4-5000. Ultimately I've decided that the car is pretty much a perfect unicorn as is and would be great for someone who wants to just have the never-seen grandma car from 1966. Or perhaps have a nice unrusted unabused starting point for a resto, even while still driving the car. I am not in a rush to sell but I want to move to a track car or similar and don't have the heart to start changing this rare bird. The reserve is a low $8,000. I am willing to consider trades for similar era/body GM cars with racier pedigree (stick shifts, 12 bolts, original or modified) or late model cars that would work for track days on a road course (netting up or down for cash value in any case). Feel free to send questions. I will add answers to this add as they questions come in.On Mar-13-14 at 14:31:56 PDT, seller added the following information: LOW $5000 RESERVE IS NOW SET
