Vehicle Detail
1974 Ford Econoline 100Short Wheel Base (Short Box)Vintage "Shaggin' Wagon"302 CID V8 / 4BBL Edelbrock Carb / C4 Automatic Transmission This is a VERY, VERY cool old van that takes us back to those good old days of custom vans back in the '70's. I remember when vans like this were all the rage. Many had custom paint jobs that were way out there….unicorns, rainbows, peace signs, landscapes, sunsets, flower power, woodstock, free love … basically they were converted into rolling love shacks or they followed more along the lines of a "hot rod". This one has been very nicely restored and follows more of the "hot rod" look and feel. It's at a perfect place for the next person to take it whatever direction they want. Yes, it has new plush shag carpet and nicely done wood panel walls. All the interior needs is whatever you'd like to add to make it yours …. a bed with drawers underneath, maybe a small fridge, throw in some bean bag chairs, even a disco ball (hahaha). The pictures tell all, what you see is what you get. I've always had my eye out for one of these because I fell in love with them as a kid. When I stumbled across this I just had to have it. I have owned it for just a couple of years and have enjoyed it thouroughly. I've had it to several local car shows and it never fails to draw a crowd. It's amazing how many people have a story tied to a van like this that they once owned in "another lifetime". In the pictures you'll see the van parked next to my blue 1969 Mach 1 at a local show …. I had more people, young, old, and everything in between, stopping to talk to me about the van than I did the Mach!! It is by far one of the funnest vehicles I've ever owned and I know I will soon regret having sold it. I get smiles and thumbs up everywhere I go. My only reason for selling it is I've got too many toys and I need to focus my efforts on my '56 F100. These are incredibly hard to come by, especially in this condition. This is a California van that was restored about 6 years ago. This is a rust free and rot free van that maintains all of it's original sheet metal. The van was restored bumper to bumper. The freshly built 302 engine has less than 2,000 miles on it. The transmission (C4 Automatic) was also freshly built the same time the engine was. It sounds as though it has a mild cam in it as well. The brakes, exhaust, lights, etc… all work great. I bought this from a gentleman in Sacramento, CA and my wife and I flew in from Salt Lake City to drive it home. It ran and drove great without any issues. The engine has Hooker Headers and has a nice deep hot rod rumble to it without being too loud or obnoxious. The transmission shifts smooth. The American Racing Torque Thrust wheels and BFGoodrich T/A radials are in like-new condition. The Stereo/CD player works great and has two Kicker speakers. I also have the curved pipes to add side pipes to the van if you'd like (I think that would look awesome and really give it that old school '70's look). I DO NOT have the actual side pipes themselves, just the curved pipes that come off the headers toward the sides of the van. The sidepipes are available through catalogs. Also, after nearly a year of looking I was able to hunt down a pair of vintage (the real deal) round bubble windows for rear sides of the van. I never got around to having them installed and as I decided to sell the van I figured I'd wait to offer them to the new owner as I know there are some that may prefer not to have them on the van. I'll sell these for an additional cost if the buyer is interested. Most of these relics ended up in scrap yards over the years. If you're at all familiar with the old vans then you know they're tough to find, in any condition, and I have no doubt that they'll find their way quickly into the collectible class of vintage cars and trucks. Anyway, if you're looking at it then I'm probably preaching to the choir. Bottom line, it's a dang cool van that you probably won't ever have to worry about seeing another one in your neighborhood, county, or state for that matter! In the spirit of full disclosure please keep in mind that this is not a 10 point "show car". The paint is in great shape but has a few rock chips here and there. The fender flares also have some small areas where road dirt has created some pitting in the paint (wouldn't show up in pictures). That being said I would give it an overall 8.5 out of 10. A few housekeeping items: If you have any questions please ask before bidding. If you're serious about buying and would like to talk to me directly please email your phone number and I'm happy to give you a call. It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, the van is 40 years old and is being sold as is, where is. No warranty express or implied. I reserve the right to cancel the auction at anytime for any reason. Please have your funds in place before bidding … as well as your significant other's permission :) Reserve is set far lower than the amount of money invested. Good Luck !!! On Mar-18-14 at 11:01:33 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had a few questions about the rear bubble windows that I have available for the van …. It's easier to show than describe so I went online and pulled a few images with vans that have rear bubble windows as well as side pipes to show what could be done if someone wanted to. Thanks for all the interest and good luck bidding !!!On Mar-18-14 at 11:09:01 PDT, seller added the following information: Yes, the bubble windows pictured on the couch are the pair that I have available if the new owner is interested. Thanks.
