Vehicle Detail
This is a really nice example of a very scarce, unique vehicle. I bought it on Ebay in 2002, had it shipped from Boston to Breckenridge, CO and blew the engine on my way to an ice race at Rainbow Falls north of Woodland Park, CO about a month after I got it. The notorious nose pulley issue. Had the engine rebuilt from the now Miata crankshaft up to the tune of $11,000 in Aug 2003. Many other improvements, I could be driving a new STI for what I have in this car. Drove it to Las Vegas from Breck in fall of 2003, made the mistake of filling up on a reservation, north of Las Vegas, with PREMIUM, which I'm sure no one had pumped in a long time. Gunk plugged the injectors and I fried my engine within minutes of the gas stop. Flew home and had the car transported back to Denver for a second REBUILD. Have been careful about where I buy gas since then. Despite everything, I love this car, but don't want my wife to have to deal with it when the inevitable comes. The mileage is accurate to the best of my knowledge. I raced it at the Big Bend Open Road Race in 2005 with a target speed of 105MPH. Was 5 seconds too early on the trip to Sanderson, TX and 2 seconds too early on the trip back to Ft Stockton, TX. For those of you familiar with Colorado, I used to love trolling with this car while going up to the Eisenhower Tunnel, and when I saw a hotshot coming up fast, downshift to 3d and LEAVE THEM. My wife claims we have too many vehicles despite my vehement denial, I don't want to leave her with dealing with special interest cars which would probably be bought at a fraction of their worth. I still do Porsche Club of America DE with my wonderful 1985 911 Carrera and use the Mazda for my ski car (Monarch Ski Area, CO) but I do need to let some things go. Enough, tendency to go on too long with age!!!!
