This car is all original and has not been repainted. I am the second owner and purchased the car from the showroom floor at Morristown NJ Mercedes Benz in Jan 1986. It was an early trade in and in such fine condition that they had it in the center spot on the showroom floor alongside the new cars. I have maintained this car to a fairly high standard as evidenced by its current condition 28 years later. The timing chain on 380SL was an issue and was converted over to the double chain within the first few years of my ownership. Oil changes and tune ups were done on a regular basis by MB mechanics. Recently had the transmission resealed and have replaced various valve cover and other gaskets as any oil leaks presented themselves. Car is now free of any leaks. The car is air-conditioned and it is working. Car is beautiful as seen in the photos. I currently have the hard top on the car and have had it on these past three years. I have therefore included earlier photos of how the car looks as a convertible. This color combination of brown and light tan is striking and even today 32 years later, it continues to turns heads and I get comments every year on how well it looks and presents itself. The car has had no vehicle accidents. I did have an incident about 8 years ago when a deer decided to run into my drivers' side door. It was necessary to replace the door. The repair is perfect and no one would ever know it occurred. As stated the car is in original condition and there are small imperfections as would be expected for a vehicle this age; but it clearly is a gem at this age and a collectible you would be proud to be seen in. In Pennsylvania we have the opportunity to apply for antique license plates once our cars are over 25 years of age if they are in good condition and if we agree to drive them only in daylight hours and use them a limited number of miles per year. This had how I have used this car since 1988, driving less than 4000 miles per year. It is a beautiful car and I welcome your bids.
