1999 LEXUS SC400 SC 400 - V8 COUPE This Vehicle was my father-in-law’s. If he had a problem with it, he always brought it to the Lexus dealer. The Lexus has 216K on it now. He purchased it with 30K miles. He put on another 170K. I drove it another 15K over the past 6 years or so. As long as we have owned it, the vehicle has just sat in the yard during the winter. Since the air condition failed I just drove it in the spring and fall. . The past 3 years it has not seen any use. These are the problems: · The emission system needs work. Everything was fine when I parked it in the fall, but when I started driving in the spring, the engine check light came on. It shows that both O2 sensors are bad. I told the mechanic that it is not the O2 sensors but some other cause. Two O2 sensors just don’t go bad at the same time. Of course this mechanic changed out the sensors, and it still failed. My thinking had been that a wire has a bad connection that serves both O2 sensors. · The air condition compressor needs to be changed. · The passenger door has a very large scrape on it. There is a replacement door skin that goes with the vehicle. The new skin is just about perfect. · The driver’s seat leather is worn. There are no tears or rips though. · On the inside door trim there is a crack in the leather. See picture. · It takes more effort than it should to open and close the doors. Seems to be a lubrication issue. · The headlight lenses need to be buffed, because they are a bit cloudy. · There might be other things, if I think of anything; I will add it to the listing. Here are the good things: · The car always starts up immediately. The engine runs smoothly. It doesn’t burn oil. · No problems with the transmission · No problems with the exhaust system, except that the hanger bracket on the end of the tailpipe is broken. It has a repair that works. · The vehicle drives very well. · The brakes are good. The rotors and pads were replaced 3 years ago · The paint is really very good. It has minor scratches and dings. Except for the door problem · Except for the wear on the driver’s seat, the interior is very nice. It has a couple LEDs out on the dash though. · The vehicle is registered and insured so it can be test driven down our road. It has a rejection sticker, so I don’t drive it too far.
