Vehicle Detail

This 1960 Pontiac Ventura 2-door hardtop "Bubble Top" Coupe is the original Coronado Red Metallic exterior color with original Deluxe Ventura Tri-Color (2 shades of red with white accent) interior. In 1960, Pontiac made 3 Bubble Top models; Catalina, Ventura, and Bonneville. The Ventura is the rarest of the 3 and NADA Classic Car pricing/value guide show it as the most valuable of the 3. The Catalina and Ventura models have a somewhat shorter body in the rear-deck (trunk lid) area which many believe results in a more pleasing profile than the Bonneville. Of those 2, the Ventura was built with a more deluxe interior making it, in general, more desirable while also being more rare than the Catalina. This car has been repainted, after repair of many years accumulation of small dings, with modern base-coat clear-coat materials in the original-to-the-car Coronado Red Metallic color. The interior, in original tri-colors, has factory original seat-upholstery in remarkably good condition with one repaired seam on the left-front top area. The carpet, kick panels, door panels, rear side/armrest panels, rear package-shelf and all windlace have been redone using original-matching-color materials. The headliner and sun-visors have been redone in material matching the white accent material found on the seats and interior panels. It looks much nicer and ties in better than the factory original white material which, by comparison, looked a bit cheap. All rubber seals (weather stripping) have been replaced (cowl, doors, windows, trunk etc.). The car has a NOS replacement windshield, a new heater core, and nearly new all season radial whitewall tires and battery. The drive shaft was completely rebuilt with new u-joints and center-carrier-bearing and re-balanced. Brakes have been gone through with many new parts used as needed. The engine and 4-speed Strato Flight transmission were rebuilt by a previous owner. The engine starts right up idles smoothly and pulls very strongly. It is the 8.6:1 comp. ratio 2bbl engine which, according to factory specs, makes 390 ft-lb of torque at only 2000 RPM. The transmission always shifted exactly as it should but began leaking; this got progressively worse. In response, the transmission was torn down and all of the seals found to be failing. The transmission was thus completely rebuilt and re-installed. This is a very sharp looking 54 year-old classic which always draws positive rave attention. It's cooler than an Impala. In the photos, the car has '64 Pontiac hubcaps. The Original '60 caps are now on the car and buyer can choose which they want. As a used car, it is of course, offered for sale as-is where-is with no warranty stated or implied. The buyer is responsible for arranging pick-up or shipping. A $500 PayPal deposit is due within 72 hours of auction conclusion and the remainder within 7 days. The reserve is very conservative in light of the car's fundamental value and the amount of refurbishing completed. The car is for sale locally and thus the auction might be ended early.
