Vehicle Detail
Collectible WW-II Jeeps are Bantams, Fords and Willys in that order. At collectors' auctions, the first stated correct original copies had fetched upwards of $45k, and the last, under $20k. As more Willys were produced, (while most abandoned in place overseas,) they are popular as daily drivers with personality. Parts are readily available and reasonable, e.g. on Ebay. After the war, Willys wanted to capitalize the popularity of these vehicles by expanding the line to "Civilian" Jeeps. Many left over components in the war were utilized, until they were depleted, making each vehicle unique. This one in particular has the WW-II fold down split square windshield, but with the new tail gate. 90% is original, down to all working instrument. Only buddy seat, roll bar, tops, off road wheels and all terrain tires are after market. The flat head engine had been abandoned in favor of a high performing 1953 CJ3b F-head Hurricane OHV engine, with intake valves in the head. The CJ3 has "high top" fenders to allow for the taller engine. So an air scoop was tastefully fabricated to house the carburetor tower. With a rare factory Overdrive, (the third stick,) it cruises effortlessly through modern traffic. Electrical had been updated to 12V with the original generator and VR. The paint was originally Willys Green. Second spray was Maroon, (see picture of dash.) Recent color puts it back to the vintage variant in Olive. Always stored inside. All new parts and accessories, (gas tank, carburetor, fuel & water pumps, starter, coil, ..... etc.) Five new 235x15 tires mounted on off-road wheels. New front seats. 2 canvas tops and back curtain. Everything works, including heater & fan! Rugged, simple and reliable. Starts every time without choke. Runs great! Economical, fun and cool to drive! Comes with trailer hitch. If you won with Buy It Now, you'd also get an original Jeep gas can with stand, and a tow bar to take it home! You can get a Wrangler for the money, or you can own a piece of history and show off your personality with this rig! 125k documented miles. Current registration and insured with collectors' coverage, (under 2,500 annual miles.) It has already lasted longer than most people! Please read feedback of vehicles sold. May take a trade with enough cash. Subject to local sale at any time.
