Vehicle Detail

BMW R90S has identical to original R60 frame. Full original R90S engine and components. Frame was replaced in the past and is the ideal candidate for BMW custom. This is a project you can now complete. The bike comes with deep sump oil pan and dual plugged heads. It needs ignition for second set of plugs. This is a great running bike. Includes Corbin seat and after market shocks. Genuine R90S engine number: 4981850 This item as been relisted...previous Q&As below: Question & Answer Answered On Q: how well does the bike handle at high speeds? what work does bike need done? Dec-25-13 A: Like all of these bikes at around 85 the bike gets the half fairing aerodynamic "head wiggle". There is plenty more on tap but I rarely go on the highway (in South Florida, your life is in the hands of the gods). Plus the ATE brakes are on stainless rotors. It would be improved with later forks with Brembos. Work that needs done depends on your goals. I was going to replace the high screen with standard and paint the bike. Take the paint off of the engine covers and replace the side panels (I don't like how they were attached). I am not a fan of the "kneel down" forks. They could use a rebuild with proper springs if you are keeping these. And of course a repaint and a smoothing of the tank. This is less than half the price of a numbers matching bike. Plus you don't have to fear the Originality Police when you want to improve the bike. I will include a new unstamped headstock number plate with the bike (German version). Q: In the description of the R90s, this says that the engine is from the r90s, but the frame is from an r60. Were you involved with this modification? Do you know if the original was in an accident and that was why the frame was restored? Will this cause any issues with the title transfer? Also can you comment on the "great running bike", would you be able to send video of the bike running with maybe some more information? Also can you comment on any known rust, engine problems, or modifications that have been done to the bike(original carbs?, working electrics?..etc)? Dec-24-13 A: I bought the bike in this condition nearly 10 years ago now. It's history is unknown to me, it is titled in Florida as a black BMW. I also own a Daytona orange R90S that it is identical to, frame wise. The frame is simply an R60. The forks are straight. All of the electrics work, I was going to paint it gloss black with white pin stripes and ride it, saving the Orange bike for special occasions. I am not a fan of the period "Works-type" rear shocks that are on the bike. I have a set of 3 barred, aluminum shrouded Boge shocks to go with the bike if it meets reserve. Faults: Center stand is weakly sprung with the tab missing. I will doubt the clock works perfectly. It didn't work great after I repaired it 10 years ago.. Give me till after Christmas and I will email a video of the bike running to interested parties. Q: Could we call this a R90S engine/transmission in a different chassis, complete with an S fairing? What type of shocks and is the forks off of the R90S? Dec-24-13 A: Yes, it is an R60 Frame. Everything else is R90S. Fairing, gauges, brakes, wheels. Q: Is the Vincent for sale? :-) Dec-24-13 A: Please see public post on the same subject. Q: Is the Vincent for sale? Please let me know. Thanks Dec-24-13 A: Good eye...it's a 1948 Rapide. I had it restored in the UK and brought it back to the US. It's had 2,000 miles since restoration and is a beautiful rider. It is my prize possession, but everything is for sale right. I need $65,000 to part with it. Of course I can send more pics.
