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ames On Dec-26-13 at 13:03:14 PST, seller added the following information: Hi I have uploaded only two other pictures of the Bed because i am leaving the truck in the shop until tomorrow so they can finish with the customers that were ahead of me. Here is a list of some of the minor things that could be improved. Doors are very strong on their hinges but posts could use a minor adjustment/or those plastic fastners that go on posts (very simple), There are some minor waves on the top part (right) of rear bumper, some of the camo decals could use some minor attention where they curve under truck, front right joints could use replacement at some point but not serious (no vibrations), the aluminum wheels are in good condition but can use cleaning, truck has new fuel pump but gas gauge has stopped working. The truck has excellent sliding back glass. Was told this truck was some type of K model camper special but have been unable to confirm this as fact, so if someone knows about this please let me know. This is an awesome truck looking for the right home. Please remember this vehicle is going to open a Super Center that will employ 10-15 at risk youths who are back in school, living with integrity and staying clean from drugs.
