Vehicle Detail
This California built 1968 Chevelle SS 396 Coupe is a project car that does not run or drive. It has a clear Oregon Title. Has the correct 138 Vin for SS396 cars. Car was originally white with a black bench seat interior and black vinyl top. It has power disc brakes, manual steering, and a 12 bolt rear end. The engine sitting in it now is a mid 70's 454 that is standard bore and has the good oval port heads. It is a an assembled core missing most accessories. The trans is a 1968 T-400. The first 2/3 of this car are decent. Has the original body panels still except for the header panel and trunk lid. Doesn't appear to have been wrecked. Frame is good and solid under the battery area. The cowl, upper dash @ windshield are nice with only a few pin holes where the wipers go (see picture). The floors are pretty solid with only a few pin holes. (see picture). Most all the panels have minor dings. The fenders have rust on the rear bottoms. The big problem with this car was the package tray area was rusty and the panel behind the rear seat. Under the rear seat is ok. The right side trunk floor needs replaced. The left and center trunk appear pretty solid. The quarter panels were rusted around the wheel wells/lower rear areas. Then the quarters were cut off to gain access to the package tray/trunk area. The package tray/rear seat panel had the spot welds drilled then the project stopped. When I bought the car, I spot welded the quarters back on and reassembled it. In my assessment, the body would need 2 full quarter panels, Rh trunk floor, Outer wheel houses, Filler panel inbetween rear window and trunk lid, Package tray/rear seat panel. All of which is available new. The inner wheel houses would need patched where the trunk hinge supports come down. I have included patch material for the inner houses, extra trunk hinge supports, and side patches where the package tray welds to. Notible missing items are: windshield, driveline, radiator, engine brackets/accessories. If it is not in the pictures, it is not there. Remember this is a project car that will need complete restoration. Cash preferred. Will not leave until ANY form of check has cleared.
