Vehicle Detail
Description You are looking at a scarce 1960 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible. This is an estate vehicle that has been away in a garage for years. Our consignor is the daughter of the deceased and decided to sell the car. It was purchased in the early 70s by her father. Please scroll down and enjoy the 250+ photos. If you cannot view all the photos, please click here. Below is a video of the car in action, courtesy of Duffy Nagel, owner of Nagel Auto Body: As you can see, it has a number of period appointments such as the American flag painted in the coves, the Cragar SS wheels, and custom dash pad and door panels. The seats appear to be original but are pebble grain which would have been 1958 vintage we are guessing. It appears it was originally red with a black interior Mechanically, the engine is a 307 2 bbl and the transmission looks like it is probably not original either. It needs a complete mechanical restoration including brakes and front end reconditioning. It would be a great candidate for a crate motor or to restore to original. We have a nice clean original 1958 3737739 block that is also available from another consignor if desired. The radiator and generator may be original, as are the gauges. The frame is excellent, one of the best we have seen in the solid axle Corvettes. the body has had some repairs and it looks like it probably had some right front damage at one time. The convertible top and frame are nice. Note this car has a WI issued VIN number and tag. We believe it was probably a theft recovery or the VIN tag was lost years ago. We do not have any additional history other than what is noted in the auction. To sum it up, this is an original car stored for year in garage. This car is in need of a restoration but does run and lot drive. No brakes, excellent frame, nice top, probably not for the weekend restorer. Tires have some dry rot, and there is mechanical and cosmetic work needed as shown in the photos. WI issued VIN number, please see photos and description for complete details on vehicle condition. It would make a great restoration candidate or resto-mod. Best of all, we are selling this no reserve. We will let the market determine the value of this classic American icon. good luck in the auction! Additional Details: We cannot warranty any parts and as with any vintage vehicle, they are always a project in some way. Collector cars are many times temperamental and reliability can be a factor on some. We also did not test any accessory or feature. To be clear, this vehicle is a project car or for parts. The condition of any component is unknown. The automobile needs to be transferred on a trailer to the destination. The title is clear, and we are also requiring a bill of sale be signed by the new owner stating this car is being purchased as-is as a project car with a WI issued VIN number. Please call our store at (414) 727-0600 for additional information on this vehicle. Best of all, we are selling this beauty with NO RESERVE, but do reserve the right to end the auction early as it is for sale locally. Good luck in the auction.
