Up for auction is my Triumph Spitfire. I bought her off a friend to help out in a divorce, he had her a number of years and he been zeroing in on a whapping or a knocking sound coming from the driver rear wheelHe's replaced the differential, half shaft's (axle shafts), joints, wheel bearings, drive shaft unions and the noise is still there.The engine is bloody beautiful - attention to detail everywhere just look at the snaps and you'll see.Also Performed the following:Horns, although the switch itself on the steering New cam chain and tensioner New piston rings and bearings, including gaskets New brake master cylinder New clutch master cylinder New clutch slave cylinder New clutch New header pipes New Monroe pace setter exhaust, a little loud Replaced differential New axle shafts and joints Driveshaft joints New Weber down draft carb Electronic ignition Fitted an electric fan Fitted a new radiatorFitted new rear leaf spring New air shocks NewTyres New CD Player She's a lovely little car, not showroom, just this bloody knocking noise lets it down.She needs a new mechanic owner to sort that noise out, then she'll be a great car. Mileage isn't exact. Previous owner did a dash replacement to wood, should be plastic, and changed the dials. Hazards have never worked.I've only just replaced the axle shafts thinking that would fix the noise, but no. The Intension was to fix the knocking and sell her for at least $5kBut I am a realist and understand that I can't do that with the knocking noise.So if you are a mechanic, you may have it fixed it a heart beat, but it's beyond me.
