Vehicle Detail

1968 Dodge Polara 4 Door Hardtop Up for your consideration is a 1968 Dodge Polara. 318 V8, A904 Torqueflite transmission, factory Airtemp air conditioning. 71,844 ORIGINAL miles. I purchased this car in 2001 (with 68,000 miles on it), and drove it regularly until 2009. The car had been in stored in a barn since the early 1970's, and unfortunately was a bit weathered. The passenger side front fender had been replaced at some point before I purchased the car. Patch work had also been done to the lower rear quarter panels. Shortly after purchasing the car, I had a complete new exhaust installed, including a NOS y-pipe. I also had the radiator re-cored and the transmission filter changed and fluid flushed. I had the vynil top replaced in 2003, which was done very poorly, causing the area below the rear window to rust in the following years. Also in 2003, I upgraded the brakes to power brakes with a rebuilt booster and new master cylinder, along with new wheel cylinters. I also Installed a Pertronix Ignitor electronic ignition module, new 70 amp alternator, and electronic regulator. New engine mounts were also installed around this time, as well as a new water pump, rebuilt carbeurator, new fuel pump, and NOS fuel tank sending unit. In 2008, I converted the A/C system to r134a specs, using a remanufactured compressor and new filter/dryer. The system was vacuumed but never charged, since I stopped driving the car shortly after. The primary reason that I stopped driving the car was that the frost plugs were leaking. The car has sat since then, and unfortunately the driver's side floor rusted through due to the vent window leaking. The rest of the floor is solid to the best of my knowlege. The interior is in great shape, with the exception of the front seat, which is torn and has a cover on it. The car has the original Mopar floor mats, front and back. The passenger side exhaust manifold has a crack, and one of the headlight trim rings was broken while it was at the shop that was supposed to be locating a new manifold. I started the car last week, and it does run, drive, and stop under its own power, however, the brake warning light now lights when stepping on the brakes. The car will come with the four original steel wheels and a spare. The aluminum wheels are not included. If there are any questions, don't hesitate to email me. I will answer them the best I can.
