You are bidding on a 1970 Dodge D300 4 Wheel Drive Dually Wrecker. It runs decent, drives straight, brakes good etc. It's pretty straight & mostly solid, with a small rust hole in cowl & a rusty area in drivers floorboard the most obvious & pictured. I overloaded the #3540 Holmes wench trying to pick up a 40 ft. tool trailer. First the right cable went slack, & then the drivers side. I didn't hear any breakage sounds, & the cables will still spool in & out good, but they won't support a load anymore. The PTO & transfer case {mid mounted] work good. The 4 spd tranny works good except 2 nd. gear syncro is bad. I've learned to 'granny shift' around it. The motor runs smooth & sounds mean, it will idle for hours with No cooling issues. It's not fast & won't run Interstate speeds. The brakes work good. I've pulled 3 mobile homes with this truck with no problems. It will pull a 14 x 70 from a dead stop in first or second gear effortlessly. Note Jacobs build date was 12/69, so this chassis has been a wrecker since new. It's showing 90,816 miles, but the speedo was so noisy I removed the inner cable. I doubt that I've added more than a few hundred miles to this. I like this old truck, but you can't keep everything, & I think I'd prefer a {more modern} roll back now. Please ask questions, bid high & bid often. Thanks! More!
