Vehicle Detail
1968 Chevrolet C-10 Pickup I found another cool old truck eBayers.. Let’s see who is paying attention this week. This is a 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Long Box Custom Pickup. It has a built 350 a 3 speed on the floor and a killer wood bed. This truck is a fantastic driver. I buy a lot of old trucks. I always have them around here. I just like trucks I guess, but there is something about this truck that I really love. I guess it’s not one thing really but the combination of a few good things. First of all I like the engine. To be perfectly honest, I’m not sure what was done to it. I can see the headers and the cool valve covers, the 4 barrel carburetor, and the electronic ignition, but I don’t know what cams or what other magic helps this one to run so well. It just really makes me smile. It starts with 2 pumps and can be driven without a boring warm up period. It sounds awesome with the custom side exhaust. It really gets to it when asked. The range of horsepower and torque is excellent. Power right from idle and up in the higher revs too.. This is the kind of truck that you want to drive around in all day just to hear it run. Second of all I like the wheels and tires and suspension. The proper rally wheels with new BFGs all around and just enough of a drop so it handles and has a good level stance but not so much as to start a grass fire in the summer time. (I like to field test my trucksJ) Third, I don’t do rust, and I don’t like scabbed together rigs and this one is very solid. The floors are good and there is no signs of previous poorly done repairs either. The wood bed is beautiful. Totally redone and absolutely beautiful. There is a lot more I like about it, call me and I will go on all day if you let me.. It will be easier if I tell you what is less than fantastic. The paint is fairly new, but not a top of the line show worthy type. Most people will be impressed. Some.. not so much. I could live with it as a driver quality job, but it is driver quality and cruise in only. Also the holes are still there from where the old mirrors were so either buy the old mirrors, or fill the holes.. Personally, I like the tall old mirrors. The truck had a 3 speed on the tree and was moved to a floor shift. It still has the shifter neck on the column. That still needs to be deleted. Also the truck needs some tunes! The motor always sounds great, but music is nice once in a while too. Not to mention, the hole in the dash is a little ugly. Really not much is needed on this one. All of the expensive stuff is done, just a few final touches and this truck is ready for the cruise in. This ½ ton C-10 has all of the vintage appeal and legendary reliability that people want and it is not going to break anybody’s pocketbook either. I am setting the reserve very low and I know the truck will sell the first go around as long as we all play by these rules. #1. Only bid if you have intentions to buy. #2.
