Also known as Buttercup - this bus has been my baby for the past 4 years. New baby forces sale to something more practical. This bus was purchased in California and has since moved with me to Ohio. As you can see in the pics I still have it registered and titled in CA. Always garaged kept and only driven sporadically over the past several years - certainly has never seen snow/salt. Exterior: Good condition for a car this age. The two tone yellow was done about 5 years ago and is holding up well. Newer rubber on all the doors/windows. The body is in great shape as you can see in the pics. Minor imperfections here and there but otherwise great. Bus comes with the original Westy child's cot, the pull away tent, a canopy that attaches the rear hatch, custom curtains that wrap around the entire bus including driving cabin, and a weatherproof windshield cover for camping and keeping the bus cool. The rack on top is custom welded and easily removeable for garage storage if too tall. The ladder is custom made and attaches to the bumper and sits within the rain guard. Bus has dual exhaust system known as Bug Pack that sounds awesome, as well as a 2" trailer hitch which I used for attaching bike rack. Interior: New pergo water resistant flooring was installed in 2011. The icebox, sink, cabinets and seats are all original - except the driver and passenger seats that were completely stripped and rebuilt for more support. The only defect can be seen on the pull out bench - two tears in the original material are present. Custom console included that has extra storage and cup holders. It is not installed and is easily moveable to keep the walkthrough concept this bus has during camping trips. CD Player with aux jack, USB, and new speakers in front doors done in 2011. Mechanics: This bus is meant for the road. The engine has been completely replaced with a 1766 CC engine with dual carbs. There is a sump built to the bottom of the engine as well as an external oil cooler (shown in a pic) that was installed by VW Paradise in CA in 2011. The engine holds approx. 7 quarts of oil and rotates it through the oil cooler. I have taken it on trips from San Diego to Las Vegas in 110 degree heat and it runs great. Typically I get about a 65 MPH top speed at a comfortable RPM level. The bus has a two battery setup. A small battery is wired into the electric start, and a deep cycle marine battery powers all of the camping equipment (lights, etc..) to ensure you are never stuck with a dead battery. The system switches via a solenoid to charge both batteries and an inverter has been installed to power everyday conveniences. Speaking of charging - the engine has been converted from the old generator to a new alternator setup which vastly improves charging and efficiency. RPM and Oil Temp gauges have been installed in the cabin to monitor the engine performance. The idiot lights still work as well. New shocks and tires were installed in 2011. New Rancho transaxle was installed about 5 years ago. The bus pulls strong and shift easy. The odometer has not been verified but I am sure its rolled over. I would estimate apprx. 30,000 miles on the new engine in the bus. All work was done by a professional VW aircooled shop - and I have the receipts to hand over as well.
