Vehicle Detail
1968 XKE Series 1 1/2 Convertible Please make sure you have funds available before bidding! 2nd owner for 43 years! Stored for past 5 years. Matching numbers. Originally beautiful Opalescent Dark Blue NO RUST 67,154 miles Car is not running but the engine turns freely. New Martin Robey complete side floors, rockers, trunk floor, bottom sections behind rear tires, rear license plate area sheet metal. Some smoothing will be needed between sheet metal sections replaced. The 68 series 1 1/2 looks externally Exactly like a late 67. The bonnet is exactly the same with the same small hole in the nose and turn signals above the bumpers. The headlights can be retrofitted with glass covers and I have seen this done a number of times. It has the same nice small tail lights above the bumpers. This car even has the series 1 wheel spinners with ears. The 68 has seats that look just like a 67, but also recline unlike a 67. The 68 has dual radiator fans, solving the overheating problems of the series 1s. The 68 has an improved gearbox which provides noticeably smoother shifting. To produce the ultimate e-type, you would enclose the headlights and put 3 carbs on a 68. You would have all the looks and power of a 67 with the added dual fans, reclining seats, and smoother shifting. Truly, the ultimate e-type. I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime, should it sell elsewhere. Serious buyers can contact me at 770-998-5929. A new stainless steel exhaust system was about to be purchased but has not been done, so there is currently no exhaust system. Car is sold as is.My mechanic tells me the brake calipers have been taken off the car to send them for rebuild. This has not been done yet and the calipers are still with the car. I took a magnet around the car and it stuck EVERYWHERE. You can reach me at jagman230@gmail.com.
