Has been in same family since brand new. Early 1978 production. This 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 is one of the best, most original examples in existence. The original Toyota paint is in fantastic condition. We have kept it as found so you can see it has not been fluffed with magic wax or deceptive detailing chemicals. Same goes for the engine, no leaks washed away, etc. Over the 11 years in garage, it was started every 2 weeks, driven around the block every 6 weeks or so. Here is brief history from current owner: My wife's uncle was a mechanic working for Toyota in the 70s-80s and bought the truck new in 1978. He used it for Search and Rescue in Oregon for several years until around 1985, then garaged it and only using it for small jobs. I bought the FJ40 in 1999 from her uncle and drove it during college until 2002 when I sent it to Dallas. Its been in my mothers garage since. My father would start it up every 2 weeks and drive it around the block every 6 weeks or so. 4 speed manual transmission4x4 In-line 6 cyl 4.2L engine-running condition Warn Winch Original seats front and side seats that fold up in back. We all know the biggest enemy of these FJ40's is rust. Other than some surface rust around front bumper-winch, this FJ is rust free-the body, under, doors, box, everything is in great condition. Pictures tell the story, just needs washing and a hand waxing would bring her finish back to a beautiful shine, perhaps recover front seats. Front bumper is bent on one end. Gas tank was drained, fuel system cleaned, spark plugs checked (good), radiator checked (good), Carb cleaned, oil checked (good). 35 year old rare 4x4, original and garage kept from new, also stored properly for years at a time. Won't find many like this for sure....and under 100,000 miles. Owner is heartbroken to have to sell but new job with move cross country make it impossible to keep. The bucket (top), the doors, body, fenders, underside, wheel wells (usual problem spots) are clear, NO RUST. There is, however surface rust under the mat in the cargo area.
