Vehicle Detail
Sears, Roebuck and Montgomery Ward battled each other on all kinds of fronts, most interestingly in the 1960s with motorcycles. Sears imported Vespas and Puchs, while Montgomery Ward private-labeled Lambrettas, and also Moto Benellis. None were more exciting than this 1968 Benelli Mojave 360. The Mojave 360 is exceedingly rare with only 50 ever making it to production. This machine is one of the 50 machines manufactured by Moto Benelli at the end of 1968 for the American market for enduro competition to comply with AMA regulations. These 1968s were supposedly a pilot for a planned regular production run that never materialized. Moto Benelli was also building 250cc and 350cc road bikes for Montgomery Ward at the time. Moto Benelli had one of the 360s on display at the Paris show in 1970 alongside the MK1 Tornado which used the same frame as the Mojave 360...The 250/350 frames were different than these 360/Tornado frames. Moto Benelli stop supplying the Riverside range in early 1970 because of the cost, then Moto Benelli then took over the marketing of the complete range of two strokes and flat single four strokes and the tornado 650 under the Moto Benelli name. The Riverside range licensing agreement owned by Montgomery Ward was stopped I've had this bike for quite a while don't really remember the history on how of when i got it. The motor is stuck, as are pretty much all Benelli singles do. I tried to kick it over and that doesn't work.... She's probably gonna need a piston but I see them here all the time for pretty cheep... I got to say, this bike is really complete and would be a shame to part it out.... There a lot of these Benelli singles out there so parts are really easy to find. It shares quite a bit of barts from its little brothers the 250/350... This bike should not be a hard restoration at all...Yes the speedometer says 20 miles on it but by looking at the bike I have to say there's quite a bit more than that on it... I do have the left-hand toolbox frame cover for the bike just didn't have the chance to find it before I took pictures for this auction, but I do have the toolbox and yes it goes along with the bike... she's gonna need a little love but I don't think it be too much to get it going again.. I don't like surprises and I'm sure you don't either so I tried to take and post up as many pix as I could so you can see exactly what your buying, if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Don't miss an opportunity to get a very rare Benelli 360, you can find 250/350s everywhere but the 360s are very rare..... Add this to your collection today!!!
