Vehicle Detail
1978 Moto Guzzi LeMans-1 Remember when you could get a Ducati 900ss for $5 to $6 grand or a Triumph Bonneville for just a couple grand? Once the collectors started to realize the importance of these flagship models within their brands, the prices started to skyrocket on them. As the Moto Guzzi brand is starting to be recognized by collectors, the flagship for that model, the original Lemans-1, is poised for dramatic increase in price.. Don't be surprised if you see these Lemans-1's reaching the $20-$30,000 price range as the Ducati 900ss have done recently... What I am letting go is an unmolested unrestored survivor... You know they say "the bike is only original once!" It has beautiful patina with shinny paint, non dented tank, and an un ripped seat... She has some bumps and bruises but if she could talk I'm sure the stories would be about awesome rides.... This Lemans-1 has the bigger Dellorto carburetors, the big tube exhaust, linked brakes, and the no reflector European turn signals, and deep sump racing oil pan. This bike has been prepped and ready for enjoyment... Attention has been given to every detail that may leave you stranded on the side of the road... For instance, the motor has been has had a fresh top end which included new valves, rings, gaskets, and ported cylinder heads... Besides the fresh motor, tons of new parts were installed on this vehicle to make it reliable, for instance new tires, seals in the trans and rear end, wheel bearings, brake pads, fuel tank petcocks, oil pressure feed hoses, and all rubber parts like tubing, hold downs, and dampers replaced... New throttle, choke, and clutch cables all replaced... Even the points, condenser, spark plug cables, spark plug caps have been replaced... New steering damper, new battery, battery cables, and battery hold down straps have all been replaced... Early Lemans-1's very rarely come up for auction, they are usually passed around between friend to friend... I don't need to see this one but just thinning the herd.... This may be your last opportunity to get an unmolested example, especially one that is freshened up and ready to ride... Ask questions please, I put up a bunch of big clear pictures, I want you to know exactualy how great this bike is, no surprises on both sides... Add this baby to your collection before the prices go up... On Sep-19-13 at 16:38:16 PDT, seller added the following information:Well I'm getting questions of what my reserve is..... It looks like the answer to all of the questions has been answered as the bike has met my reserve and it's going to sell..... That's right ! this baby is going to a new owner ! ! !.... don't miss your opportunity.... There was another LeMans 1 on ebay a few weeks ago that was bid up to $11700ish and didn't meet the guys reserve... And it wasn't as nice as this one and was kinda molested.... I'm going to sweeten the pot here a little bit for the winner who selects "buy it now" I'm gonna tossing all of the spare parts.... I have a pair of fresh 0 miles rebuilt Marzocchi rear shocks, rebuilt by the road race shock expert Ed Sorbo over at Lindiman eng... A brand-new set of brake pads I haven't had time to put on.... The original turn signals that have the side reflectors.... A brand new set of Harpers Moto Guzzi crash guards, these are the tube style guards, I figured they would match the style of the motorcycle better than the billet ones available on the market... The stock mirrors and a box of a whole bunch of spare parts I replaced on the motorcycle again these parts only go with the motorcycle on the "buy it now" option, they will not be available-for-sale otherwise on the standard auction..... i haven't been able to figger it out yet but im gonna try and post a pix of the "buy it now" package Thanks Kent
