Vehicle Detail
This is a no reserve auction for an ALL ORIGINAL, ONE OWNER, 1971 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. I purchased this recently from an estate liquidation from the original family. This FJ40 was kept in garage where I found it at the sale. I have not done a thing to the FJ40, I am selling it just as found; it is a molested vehicle with all original driveline and body parts. Not detailed to hide imperfections, but exactly as found. I have not even washed the windows, as you see it is how I found it, unmolested I am representing it as best I can, and revealing all the imperfections I know of. This was always a Northern New Mexico truck as shown in the original paperwork. I have some various documents and manual that goes with the vehicle. DOCUMENTS With this vehicle come the original paperwork, please see pictures. It has the original build sheet from Japan, the Vehicle Identification card, the original service booklet at time of purchase, the original owner’s manual, several old repair manuals, receipts for tires back to 1977, and a few other various receipts over the years. MECHANICAL The mileage reads 58840, and I have no way of knowing if it is actual. The speedometer works. It starts right up, and runs and drives pretty well. The engine sounds very good and there is no smoking. As far as I can tell the engine compartment is complete as it came from the factory. It has a three speed manual transmission, and is shifted on the column. The hubs are the manual Warn turning type. The clutch feels okay, but engages near the top of travel, Adjustment may fix it. The wipers, headlights, blower all seem to work okay. Turns signals are intermittent. RUST There is body rust as shown in the photos, actually pretty minimal rust. It has two of the diamond plate panel in the back, and the remainder of a kit is in the truck. The tail gate and doors look good and are almost rust free. There is a “repaired” area on the driver’s side floor. Although it has some rust issues it is quite minor considering other examples and other than a the diamond plate in back and the repaired spot on the driver’s floor there is no repaired or hidden spots, and NO BONDO anywhere. BODY The paint is original. The hood looks like it came open when driving one time and bent it up a bit, it also dented the roof in the front and driver’s side, the previous owner tried to repair the roof with a fiberglass compound and it is poorly done. Side windows are all intact and work with some effort. The front windshield is broken. PARTS With the FJ40, camoes all the extra parts I could find in the garage that belonged with the Toyota. It includes the rest of the Diamond plate kite, a spare tailgate latch, new side mirror, brake shoes, spare hoses, a distributer that was replaced once, exhaust pipe, seals and gaskets, extra oil filters and spark plugs, jack, old tire pump, and creeper. All are shown in a picture below. Clearly a needs some restoration, but is a very good starting point for an original restoration that hasn’t been messed with. Shipping costs and arrangement is the responsibility of the buyer. Located in Northern New Mexico at 87544. The truck is sold as is.
