Vehicle Detail

1962 Corvette Convertible with Rochester Fuel Injection Unit! I have owned this car for about 18 months and have decided to sell as I am looking for a C2 Corvette rest-mod. Bought this car from Tennessee from a man that had the car and had driven very little, never in bad weather. I had the car sold, however, the person who was supposed to pick it up (from California) never showed up to complete the deal. It was a private sell and not through EBay previously. I am a very honest person and will describe what the car is to the best of my ability. The car is a 327 FI, however, at some point in it's past the engine block was replaced with a passenger small block 327 with the casting date of "A153" which I believe is Jan. 15, 1963. The engine runs fine and the Rochester FI unit works fine, starts up every time and runs smooth. The car had a restoration about 20 years ago and while the interior looks very, very, good, the exterior needs a new paint job. Normal chips, cracks and wear over the last 20 years. The chrome is in very good condition and does not need to be re-chromed or replaced. The convertible top is in good shape and does need replaced. The frame is in very good shape and when I cleaned (a section of it) to get the VIN number off the frame it was mostly dirt. According to the previous owner, during the restoration process the steering column was sent out to be re-furbished and the VIN tag on the column was lost. I have a replacement VIN tag that I ordered from A.G. Backeast (Datatags) which could only be made once I verified the frame VIN matched my clear Indiana title. Indiana requires all out of state cars to have the VIN number checked by the police, which I did with no issue. Also had to send a copy of my clear Indiana title to A.G. as well to verify I was the owner. When I bought the car I had the following done at a restoration shop in Greenfield, IN; New brakes and masterNew rear axle sealsNew clutch, pressure plate, and bearings It also had some old Keystone mags on it so I replaced with new whitewall tires and stock wheels from Coker as well as new reproduction hubcaps. I am not claiming this car to be an original Fuelie car although the previous owner told me it is. I can only tell you what I know and encourage anyone interested to look at the car and bring an expert. It does have some things that I have been told would be on a fuelie such as the higher redline tach, fender holes for the air cleaner, nut plate on inner fender, and unmolested tach dimple on passenger side of firewall. The doors open and close very nice and (at least to me) does not look like it has been in any major collision. Everything fits pretty well. Some items on the car that need fixed or replaced; Hood release handle is stripped out. I bought new handle but I think it needs a new cable or the wrong one is on it currently.Fuel gauge seems to get stuck and works off and on.Wipers do not work, not sure what the issue is.Temp gauge does not work.Windows are difficult to crank up and down, could need some replacement parts. Tach and Speedo is in good working order. If I was to keep this car I would fix the small items above and put a period correct RF block in the car as well as a new paint job. I have priced this car very reasonable and not at Fuelie prices as I cannot confirm or deny what the car's history is without documentation, which I do not have. Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions. I can be reached at 317.501.2202 (Eric). On Sep-11-13 at 06:29:57 PDT, seller added the following information: The top is white and DOES NOT need replaced. A couple small marks that may come out but convertible frame has no rust and back window is clear with no rips.On Sep-13-13 at 04:43:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Added picture of VIN tag. Never got around to putting it on and have had it several months. Person that had committed to buying it previously wanted to spot weld it on, however, ended up not showing up to pick up car. Datatags (A.G. Backeast) suggests to either spot weld back on or us JB Weld.
