Vehicle Detail
2005 BMW R1200GS... 21,345 miles. VIN WB10317A95ZL78460. Includes BMW expandable saddlebags. The bad first.. It has been down (very gently) on both sides... The left side was a standing still drop. First day I owned it, right before I learned to put the sidestand down before getting off. (It's a bit taller than I was used to) The right side was a sub 5 mph front end wash out in gravel. The only significant damage to either side is the head covers.. both are scratched up pretty good (see photos). The muffler has a small scratch behind the chrome on the brushed tip (see muffler photo), one of the turn signals is slightly scratched, and the brake lever is slightly scratched. (Perhaps needless to say, the saddlebags were not on it either time) Both of the drive shaft boots have developed cracks over this past winter. (see photos). The bike hasn't been ridden since I noticed them, so no dirt has gotten in. I was quoted $150 to replace both, in conjunction with repacing the rear tire. The brake light does not work. I replaced the bulb so I suspect one of the switches is bad (about $50.) The tires will get you home just fine, but will need replacing soon. The seat (while in a high position) has left some scuff marks on the tank (see photo). The headers have some very slight rust. Now for the the good.... I am the original owner and have ridden it like an adult (I'm 62). It only has 21,345 miles on it and has been well maintained. The first two (600 and 6,000) services were done at the dealer for warranty reasons. Since then, I have kept it up myself. I made a living for six years working on motorcycles: BMWs, Ducatis, Triumphs, Hondas and Yamahas, so I am qualified). The fluids have all been changed regularly. The bike runs as it should and has no mechanical problems (other than what's listed above) that I'm aware of. In short, the bike is not pristine and needs about $500 ~ $600 worth of work (including tires of your chocie), but it is in good shape overall and will make a great bike for someone. ps. Since everyone asks, I'm selling it for a few reasons: I need the cash, and arthritis in my wrists is making anything but a very short ride painful. Been riding since I was 14 so I'll miss it, but what you doing to do? Please feel free to ask questions. I will answer all quicky and honestly. I am located about an hour north of Roanoke, VA, Just off of I-81 On Jul-29-13 at 15:10:12 PDT, seller added the following information: A bidder asked if tires and brakes would get hime home... I posted pictures of of the rear tire and front brake pads
