Vehicle Detail
Hello, Up for auction is my 1977 Ford Country Squire station wagon. I purchased this last June as a fun project and my neighbor offered to sell me his Model T so I am selling this to make room. Be prepared- this car is huge! It is Jade green over jade green interior. Motor is Ford 351M V8 and auto transmission. Disk brakes in front and drums in back. Runs excellent and driven fairly regularly to work on Fridays and the ice cream shop or drive-in on the weekends. It has the optional folding back seats so you can fit the kids. I’ve spent most evenings working on the car since I bought it last year and have replaced the following: - Completely new front end: New springs, shocks, all bushings, ball joints, tie rods and ends, sway bars, pads, passenger brakeline and both brake hoses. Parts were replaced and exactly torqued to specs called out in the service manuals. Arms were cleaned, painted with RustSeal. Realigned last month from a local service center. - New rear shocks - True dual exhaust added with glasspacks. No Y branch. Sounds awesome. - Brand new rear tires, less than 100 miles -Replaced all 5 window channel belts with SteeleRubber OEM style rubber seals. SteelRubber is very high quality and fits perfect. Cleaned and serviced windows and locks, applied inside door areas with RustSeal for permanent lifetime rust proofing. - I spent two months wire brushing/sanding the underneath and painting with black RustSeal. (I work in aviation and I very familiar with corrosion control so I know how important it is to mitigate.) I completed one side before deciding to sell. Car was originally Ziebarted when new and it protected it for a long time. Body is in great shape. However the rear bumper assembly will need to be replaced. I’ve been looking for over a year for a rear bumper and still haven’t found one. - Replaced the carpet with brand new carpet and pad. Sanded and painted interior floor pans with RustSeal for lifetime rust proofing. Front pans do have a few pinholes but nothing major. The rockers are excellent, rest of the body good. - All light works: headlights hi/lo, all dash lights, runners and interior. - New alternator, new master cylinder, new ignition wiring, new carb, plugs, wires and tune up & recent oil change. - Driver seat had a tear and it was just repaired from a upholstery shop in Dayton, Ohio. Rest of the seats are good. - Car includes the original 8-Track player and a CD player kit that the previous owner had. Includes two sets of dash bezels to accept either configuration. New pioneer speakers in doors and one in dash with pre-wiring. Just haven’t hooked up yet to a stereo before deciding to sell. - Rubbed out the paint several times, it looks good within the 5 foot rule but it does have front fender scrapes and the paint on the hood is light. Dark woodgrain is good with no fading but has some some spots where it got nicked on the front and back door. The surrounding lighter trim has some dents but looks fine for a driver. - Car has 115K miles, I’ve driven it only 1,000 miles since I got it. Clean title. - Owners manuals, shop manuals, brochure and info included It starts right up, idles and drives well and does not smoke. What does it need? It does leak a bit of radiator fluid from the radiator but not enough that it’s caused any concern. I have not investigated the A/C and heater, I’m not getting any cold air or heat from the unit. Don’t know anything yet to speculate. Rear bumper needs replaced. Head liner has a Y shaped tear in the back about 5 inches long and has some weird spoting that I just can’t get clean. Transmission does leak a bit of fluid from the pan gasket but I haven't even had to add to it yet after a year. Clock works intermittently. Car looks good enough that you’d be happy to take it to your local car show or drive in and have plenty of people impressed. Certainly gets a lot of thumbs up. Enjoy it as a fun weekend cruiser. Again I'm selling this because I has my eye on something new. I’m happy to field any questions about the car, just ask! Sold as-is no implied warranties. Prefer local pick up please, but can help arrange shipping with a local company if needed. Thanks for looking! *Update 27 Jul 13: added more requested pictures. If you need specific pics I'll be happy to take them. I did buy my Model T today so this will absolutely sell!
