Vehicle Detail
I have to sell my Audi Coupe GT to fund other German car projects so here it is: An original, unmolested, Audi Coupe GT. This Audi is a unique 87 special build edition. 1987 was a strange year for the Coupe. The first half of the year yielded the regular '85-'86 style Coupe GT with 2.2L engine and analog dash. Audi started production on a Special Build Coupe GT in 2/87. According to the catalog produced by The Parts Connection, VIN 85-H-023684 was the first Special Build car. Instead of the 2.2L engine, these cars used a larger 2.3L 130HP engine with a compression ratio of 10:1 and knock sensing ignition. It also incorporated an orange version of the digital dash which was used in the 1986 Commemorative Edition Coupe GT. Audi made several changes to the outward appearance of the car, painting the rear spoiler and window trim the same color as the body of the car. The '87 Coupe also replaced the rear drum brakes with disc brakes. These special build Audi's are hard to find, especially in the 2.3 I5. The 2.2 I5 was used up until 1986, and the 2.3 was used in the final Audi Coupes sold in the US. Per wikipedia: "For the last model year, the new 2,309 cc "NG" five cylinder was available, offering 136 PS (100 kW) at 5,600 rpm. This engine became available during 1987 for the last of the Audi Coupés sold in the US, where it produced 130 hp (97 kW) at 5,700 rpm as opposed to the 110 hp (82 kW) at 5,500 rpm available from the 2.2-litre five which had been used since the facelift for model year 1985" This car, like the description above, has the orange digital dash and the digital voltmeter and oil temp. Every gauge works as its supposed to. The digital dash is fully functional and there are no dead spots or pixels. Driveabiltiy is excellent on this car. I frequently set the cruise control (which works!) at 75mph and get 29-31mpg highway. It has an interesting exhaust note from the inline 5. The clutch is good and shifts smoothly with no drama. I recently (300 miles ago) had the radiator and thermostat replaced and had the entire cooling system flushed. It runs at normal temperatures in the summer heat with the A/C on. The A/C has been converted to R134a! I just topped it off and it blows very cool. The body has no rust and the original paint has been very well kept! In preparation for its sale I had it professionally detailed and waxed. Dash has no cracks! As you can see in the pictures there is one wheel that doesn't match. I have the correct wheel and its cap, I was just having a new tire put on the day of the pictures. The mismatched wheel in the pictures is an extra that will come with the vehicle as a spare. The window tint was starting to bubble so I recently (June) had the old tint removed and all the windows professionally tinted. If you live in the Denver area you can use the shop's lifetime tint warranty. They are drive-able but will need replaced before winter. Exhaust is getting old. It isn't rusted out, but you can hear a small leak in the muffler. Power windows don't work. However, I have a set of color-matched power windows of the same year that will come with the car.Passenger side front bumper issues. It's missing the lower grill plastic insert and is scuffed. Nothing major, but will need to be addressed if you're going to show this car. This is visible in the pictures.Sunroof can be finicky to remove. You have to give it love. OEM Stereo broke. It is missing the volume/power knob so that may be all it needs. I'm going to assume the worst, however, and say its dead. If you want to keep the Audi original I will leave the stereo in place. If not, I will gladly install a MP3/AUX/IPOD compatible stereo for you prior to pickup for no charge. I live in Wyoming, but I'm not too far a drive from Denver. I will be glad to assist in any aspect of delivering or shipping this vehicle. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this Audi home. I have a clean title and will have it notarized and ready to go for you. I can meet any buyer at Denver International Airport with the vehicle. Also, I have a truck and a flatbed trailer. If you're interested in having it delivered we could work something out to save you shipping charges If you would like to have tires fitted prior to pickup, I can arrange for that as well and get you my Military Discount on pricing. Please PM, call, or text me with any questions. I'm going to be sad to see her go, but my VW Corrado and BMW desperately need $$. Happy bidding! -Andrew307-286-4613 On Jul-18-13 at 01:49:10 PDT, seller added the following information: Power windows work!! I meant to type "power mirrors". I have a set of power mirrors that go along with the car.
