This is a really great project for someone...its a 1939 Cadillac 60 special 4 door sedan...model on the tag is 39-6019S. They only built about 5500 of these and it was originall styled by Bill Mitchell. Really neat design...the body was intended to look like a convertible with its top up...no running boards either...and the chrome window frames instead of the heavy, painted window frames that were normally part of the door. It was and is a quite beautiful design. The original color on this car was Oxblood Maroon Irridiscent. This car has been off the road since about 1960-62..possibly earlier. Have an old California title dated 1954. The owners name on the title owned a service station and I get the impression he bought the car from a customer, titled it in his name, and then sold it to another customer. Body is in great condition for an unrestored car...it is wet in the pictures..that way you can see the condition of the body...paint you see is over the original paint and at least 55 years old...I thought it was original paint but you can see a dark red color in spots which was the original color. No motor but have trans and some engine parts like the generator, distributor, starter etc. Pretty complete car in and out and has extra parts too. There is a whole other set of chrome window frames for the doors. All sheetmetal is totally usable and very nice. Only rust through is in the tool tray area of the trunk in a couple of spots and the bottom of the trunk lid. Wheels shown are not originals and dont go with the car...I have a set of modern 16" wheels that were specially modified in the center hub area to register on this car...hubcaps shown are original to this car and do go with the car...just not the wheels and tires. 3 of the 4 hubcaps are quite nice...one is a little surface rusty..it might have been the top one in the stack over the last 50 years the car was stored. Center part of the grill has a baseball size spot on the lower drivers side that is a little damaged but should be restorable. Has its original radiator with shutters, inside door tops and a few extra window regulators. The window regulators and some of the door mechanisms have been removed but I seem to have all if not more than you would need in that department. All doors latch closed so no problem for transport. There might be something small missing but it will be offset with some extra stuff you are getting. The lack of the engine is kind of a disappointment but with so many of these Cadillacs being hot rodded now, a flathead v8 shouldnt be that hard to come by...they used them till 1948. You could of course put a modern drivetrain in it if you wish. The steering gear box appears frozen so I will disconnect the drag link from it so it can be steered by turning the wheels by hand. It is missing one rear bumper guard...I have the trunk handle...look at the pics of the interior and you will see about 3 boxes of parts...nuts and bolts, screws..dome lights..switches etc...missing the sidemount latch hardware. Seats are just frames and springs..no upholstery on the seats..I do have the original door panels for patterns. I hosed the floors and trunk out but did not clean them in any other way...the floors and trunk are in nice shape...if you wire wheel it and paint it with some POR 15 you should be all set.
