Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE 1990 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Sport Utility 4-Door 5-Speed 3.0L Many Downey Off-Road Parts. For sale is a 1990 Toyota 4Runner 3.0 SR5 V6, 5-Speed Manual, burgundy exterior with grey cloth interior. 4Runner has 206,000 on it. I am the second owner when I purchased it in 2000. It is the model that came geared for the 31” tires, notably with the 31” rear swing out spare tire. The Good: Interior is in fantastic condition for its age. I made special care not to drag across the seat bolsters that wear them out. The leather/vinyl on the steering wheel and shift knob are still in excellent condition as well as the shifter boots. Headliner and door panels are in great condition. The 4Runner has never been smoked in. All windows, rear tailgate, switches and buttons function. The factory alarm with the original key and remote are included. Several upgrades have been done on the truck from (the now defunct) Downey Off-Road including rear Downey Off-Road 20% Heavy Duty rear coil springs, Downey Off-Road 26mm front Torsion Bars, Bilstein front shocks and KYB rear shocks. There are also Downey Off-Road V6 CA State Carb Exempt Ceramic Headers, custom down pipes and exhaust, plus Downey Off-Road’s V6 open element (no noise) air cleaner. There is also the Downey Off-Road widened throttle body, Downey Off-Road stainless steel brake lines, DayStar polyurethane bushings in all the sway bars and lateral suspension components. Stock fixed hubs were replaced with WARN unlockable hubs. The Bad: The A/C could use a re-charge (it’s still on the R-12 system), Sunroof can open, but needs some help to do so. Dash has developed a couple of cracks, the tires are in need of replacement, and it runs quite rough when it is cold. The Ugly: Back in 2007, the #6 exhaust valve gave up the ghost. The compression of the remaining 5 cylinders ranged from 142-148. The heads were rebuilt with all new seals, seats, gaskets, and the works. New D.O.A. Racing Engine Head Studs and ARP bolts were used to bolt the heads. New Timing belts, pulleys, water pump, and seals were also done. The fuel injectors were sent to E.P.I Fuel Injection for full rebuilding of all six injectors. When the engine was all put back together, the valves had some lash and click when it runs. I had taken it back many times to the install shop to fix the valves, but every time they could not fix things until they shortly after went out of business. So the engine runs, but the valves click a lot. Within weeks of all of this, I got a new job in a new city, a new truck and a pregnant wife, so the 4Runner went into the garage to be worked on later. Two more kids and a few years and it’s time to give up on the reality that I will get this truck back to great running order again. It’s time for someone else to take it and have fun with it.
