Vehicle Detail
This is a TRUE BARN FIND 1988 Chevrolet Camaro Iroc Z with the 350 Tuned Port engine and T Tops! This car only has 83K actual miles on it!! I got this car from a lady who says her son was shipped overseas back in 2001 and he had put it in her barn for storage until he would return. I didn't want to ask her too many prying questions on why she still had it or why she was selling it at that point for obvious reasons but I got it back in late 2011 so 10 years had passed since it had been running at the time. I am in the car business but I love to toy around with sports cars and things like this so I decided to get it. I did do a bunch of things to get it back on the road starting with removing and replacing the fuel tank and fuel pump with one that hadn't been sitting. After I did that it fired right up! I gave it a full tune up and got it purring like a kitten. The radiator was full of gunk so I have done multiple flushes on it to get it circulating again and get the coolant clean and that is about where I have gotten to at this point. I don't think the gunk problem is completely remedied but I have gotten most of it, but it does have a coolant leak somewhere because I can see it dripping on the ground. It also probably has some of the valve seats that have corroded away on the heads because the car ran perfect and never smoked before I got the water circulating but I couldn't drive it more than a minute or two or I was afraid it would get hot. Now that the water is circulating you can drive it but I can tell that the water is leaking through the valve seals since it smokes out the tailpipe when you add water. SO here is the deal, it is ready to have that issue fixed and then it will be ready to drive but there is going to be several other things that you are going to want to update like the tires and shocks since right now the front shocks are so bad that when I went over the railroad tracks down the road I thought I was going to die, :). I did replace the hood shocks so at least the hood will stay up without having to use a stick while you are working on it :). Mechanically this car is CLOSE but still needs attention and updates to be really ready for a trip. BODY This car is VERY straight and has a BUNCH of eye appeal. It is all original and unmolested in every way. If it were my project, I would definitely give it a full restoration basecoat clearcoat paint job which won't take much prep time since there is only one small dent in the driver's door. The rest of the paint is thin on the car and won't be shiny until you repaint it but the amount of bodywork and sanding is super minimal. The good thing about it is that it looks great like it is so if you wanted to just do the mechanical things now and drive it for awhile and restore the paint later you can and it will still look good going down the road. This car with all the options that it has is worth $8000-$10,000 easy with very little effort. I have seen people asking $15,000 plus for a restored one like this but in my opinion they won't ever get close to that much. INTERIOR The interior is VERY NICE and with the carpet replaced and a new dash pad it would be 100% like brand new except for the small spot on the side drivers seat that shows wear from getting in and out. Other than that, the seats and the rear carpet and ttop covers etc. are all there and like new! This is a VERY nice car and with just a little effort is going to make a very stunning Iroc with all the right options!! This car will be sold to the highest bidder. Due to the popular nature of this car, it is common for people who are not serious about purchasing the car to bid on it so I have required a paypal account to actually bid and I will cancel ALL ZERO FEEDBACK BIDS unless you call me and get approved to bid before you do so. I am a SERIOUS seller and this car is going to sell so BID WITH CONFIDENCE! I usually do not end a sale early due to selling a car locally, but it does happen. This one you can REALLY OWN!
