1973 AMC Matador 4 Dr. Sedan 40400 ORIGINAL MILES. This Matador is nearly perfect. I am the second owner and has been in my car collection for the last 12 years. I do not drive much anymore so I am offering it up for auction . Mechanical: The engine runs very well and smoothly through the rpm curve. The automatic shifts smoothly without hesitation. The car has good acceleration. The point ignition system was upgraded to an after market electronic system and has made this a reliable starter. The Master Craft 2 bl. carburetor has been upgraded to an Edelbrock 4 bl. carburetor. This upgrade has improved engine performance and makes the engine run smooth.The automatic transmission shifts cleanly without hesitation. The power steering is well designed and allows driver to corner with little effort. The air conditioning is original and still blows cool air. The gas gauge works. The temperature gauge works. The AM radio\speakers work well. The hood release handle has broken off but I am including a replacement. Interior\Exterior I have included photos (taken straight on - not at an angle) of each body section so you can look at the details of Matador's condition. Interior: The upholstery is in excellent condition with only driver’s seat showing any wear – see pictures. On the rear driver side passage seat there is a black stain about the diameter of a pen. There are no rids or tears. The rear carpet shows little wear. The front passenger carpet is in very good condition. The driver side carpet is worn through about the size of a dollar. The dash is excellent condition with no cracks. The head liner is perfect with no flaws. The driver door is missing the knob on the window crank (I will include a replacement with the car). Exterior: The paint is original. All the fenders, doors and hood are dent and ding free. There are small (about 1/8 inch diameter) rock chips located on and below the driver door (see pictures). There is a tiny spot of rust behind the passenger side rear tire. (See pictures.) The front grill is dent free. The rear bumper is almost perfect with only a tiny dent (less than a dime size) that is very difficult to see and impossible to photograph. The windows are in very good shape with the exception of the passenger side front shield has a fine scratch in the glass from a bad wiper blade –see pictures. The vinyl top is excellent.The original owner had a protective poly-sheild on the bottom of the car body. It is almost transparent. If there is any specific areas you would like pictures of let me know. The interior of the car is upholstered in "Pine Apple" fabric from the factory -- Definitely a car born to the 70's.
