Vehicle Detail
1973 911 RS TURBO Clone Hot Rod! This is my idea of how a Porsche RS clone should be built. I have driven this car 5700 miles in the past year. It IS my daily driver in fair weather! I’ve driven it 1200 miles round trip to St.Louis and back to Erie, PA. My son and I also drove it to Fort Myers Florida and back to Erie last spring, about 2400 miles round trip. I started this build with a dead straight, rust free 1981 911SC (VIN: WP0AA0913BS120587) with 49,000 miles on it. I used the SC platform because the rear fender flairs are already built on the car and the power assisted brake system is WAY better than the manual setup on an early car. Also the SC body is far less prone to rust issues than pre 1976 911’s. The engine: It’s a 1978 US version 3.3 liter 930 turbo that was completely rebuilt by Arcane Automotive in Fresno Ca. just 5700 miles ago. The receipt will go with the car. During the rebuild, upgrades were done to enhance the performance including 8.5:1 compression pistons, 964 profile cams, etc. The factory intercooler was polished. The turbo was replaced with a brand new KKK K27-7200 that runs standard .8 bar of boost. I’ve never had it on a dyno. The transmission, which is a very rare factory short bell housing 1977 930 4 speed, was also refreshed at the same time with all new synchros. It does not have limited slip. A new clutch was added also. The paint job on this car is absolutely spectacular! The car was gutted and stripped of all accessories, glass, and trim. The front fenders were modified with fiberglass extensions to match the 1973 turn signal housings. The hood was replaced with a lightweight fiberglass unit from Rennspd. It retains the factory hood latch. The front and rear bumpers, and the ducktail engine lid are also lightweight fiberglass. All fiberglass pieces were painstakingly fit so that all gaps are like factory. The car was then painted in Gulf Blue which is one of my all time favorite colors from Porsche. The pictures show the car to look lighter in color than it really is. The sun washed out the pictures a bit. All the window and door trim had the black anodizing sanded off then polished to match the early cars. The wheels are real Fuchs 15” with 7” fronts and 8” rears. They fit perfectly without spacers. They look chrome, however they are highly polished. The tires are Kuhmo’s with 5700 miles on them. The interior was redone with new black RS lightweight carpet, and RS style door panels. The dash was professionally covered with a “dashcap”, and as you can see in the pics, it is nearly impossible to tell. The rear package shelf has a vintage Z-Box speaker enclosure that was completely customized to integrate with the car. The amp rack is mounted in the front trunk with 4 bolts that fasten to factory locations. It can be removed without a trace. If the winning bidder prefers the car without the stereo (amp rack, amps, and Z-Box), I will deduct $600.00 from the final price and return the trunk and rear deck to the current look of the rest of the car. There is a brand new factory headliner installed. It does have power windows. There is a boost gage in place of the clock. The speedometer was reset to zero when the car was finished. The gas tank was replaced with a large Fuel Safe foam filled fuel cell. I think it holds about 24 gallons. The fuel cell is also polished aluminum. There are a few more pictures here: http://pjsautosound.com/1981RS.htm In fairness to all, I will not end the auction early, I do not have a buy-it-now price, and there is absolutely no reserve. The high bidder will own this car! Please have all your ducks in a row before bidding on this beautiful car. I will sell overseas. This car is ready to drive anywhere. I have the title in my possession and ready to transfer to the new owner.
