Vehicle Detail
Overview This is a 1953 Chevrolet 3600 series five-window pickup. She has about 70,000 original miles with a clean Florida title. She is stock, solid, all-steel, and rust-free. Everything works. A new owner can enjoy her as a daily driver, or bring her to another level. The basic elements are excellent, and she would make a super investment that you can enjoy every day. Some folks call this model a “long bed” because the 3600 series bed is about 10” longer than the 3100 series. The extra length makes the side-mounted spare look “right” instead of being sandwiched into a fender well like it is on a 3100. I think she looks classy with tall tires, painted grille, and excellent chrome trim. Also, the bed has been finished with dark oak and 10 coats of poly. You will be able to see your reflection, but don’t plan to haul any gravel. History I bought the truck for $16K from a retired NC mechanic in 2009. He had performed a frame-up restoration, and rebuilt, replaced, or restored almost everything. The paint is cream over brown metallic fenders and is very attractive, but is not show quality. I upgraded various items, and I now have over $20K invested. The truck is located in Charlotte, NC at a vintage car restoration shop. The shop owner will be happy to show it to you, or you can send your inspector. Note that there is no reserve. Engine Rebuilt original 216 ci engine with new bearings, rings, and complete valve job. Rebuilt carb and new fuel pump, fuel lines. Replaced exhaust manifold, heat control valve is operational. New fuel tank, muffler and exhaust piping. Drive Train New clutch and pressure plate. Original 4-speed floor shift transmission. New speedometer gear corrects dashboard speed to within 5% per GPS. Original 4.57 rear end replaced with 4.10 for roadability (about 2500 rpm @ 55 mph). Braking/Suspension All new brake linings and hoses. New master cylinder, rebuilt wheel cylinders. All new shocks, kingpins, and spring shackle bolts. Electric System New electrical harness complete. System upgraded to 12 volt. Electric windshield wiper and correct aftermarket direction signals added. All gauges on dash work: Amp/Oil/Temp/Fuel. 12v Alternator and starter rebuilt. Wheels and Tires Five new 16” “old school” wheels with correct new hubcaps installed. Four new Dunlop Rover LT 215/85 16” 10-ply tires, with matching spare. Side-mounted spare uses correct (rare) 8-lug bracket per original accessory manual. Exterior All steel, no rust, no bondo. Bed redone with stainless steel strips, new oak boards, finished with 6 coats of poly. Correct (very rare) original 1953 3600 hood emblems, freshly re-chromed. New chrome bumpers and front bumper guards. Painted stone guard pans front and rear. Correct fog lamps installed, new chrome rear taillights. Interior New headliner, door panels, kick panels, carpet, visors, and seat cover. Aftermarket radio with AUX input for iPod or mp3 device. Correct cigar lighter accessory. Personal Note: I love old trucks just as much as you do, and I want this truck to go to a good home. If you bid, please be prepared to move forward as soon as possible, and I will do all I possibly can to assist you.
