Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a 1982 Suzuki RM250Z Motocross bike with clear California title. This is a race restoration, built to be ridden but to look like it did back in the day with some period additions (it's not a 100 point show restoration), and ideal to ride in your local vintage MX races (evo, revo, gp class depending on your local organizer) Most racers know their MX history and the RM250Z was the best 250 that year and is still known as one of the top 10 best 250's ever built (Both the RM125Z and RM250Z were amazing bikes, just a shame Suzuki tamed the motors for the '83 D models) The bike starts 1st or 2nd kick, motor runs strong and rides great, smooth shifting through every gear. Prior to the race restoration, the bike was already a well looked after bike, not thrashed or used and abused! During the 80's, the bike was fitted with a DG performance pipe and a DG Series II silencer which it still has fitted. Buildsheet New Vintage-Suzuki.com front & rear fender, seat cover and seat foam. New OEM Suzuki radiator shrouds. Original side panels with new plate backgrounds. 1984-86 OEM Suzuki front plate (used). Original Suzuki fork boots in perfect condition. Original gas tank, polished with new graphics. New fuel line and carb vent hoses. Original 80's DG pipe and DG silencer, silencer freshly repacked. New No-Toil air filters. New Sedona intermediate terrain front & rear tires. New Sunstar OEM style rear sprocket, new Pro-Taper sprocket bolt kit, new RK chain, new JT countershaft sprocket. New OEM Suzuki chain slider, new OEM Suzuki chain guard, lower chain slider, sprocket buffer and hardware. New sealed bearing red chain rollers. New period correct steel bars, with new half-waffle grips, new kill switch, new OEM style levers, new OEM Suzuki lever covers, new lever perches, new OEM Suzuki top throttle cover. Other new OEM Suzuki genuine parts - CDI box hold down strap, rear shock reservoir hold down strap, water pump gasket, shift shaft chain protector roller, foot peg pins, rear shock plastic mud guard, rear shock rubber mud guard. Bike stripped down to a bare frame, bead plasted frame and re-painted. All bearings, spindles, pivot points are freshly greased. All threads treated with anti-seize for ease of disassembly whenever needed. New cotter pins. Wheels (rims, spokes and hubs) are the originals, they have some scratches from 30 years of use and tire changes, the rear rim has minor flat spot on one side of the rim, but the rim still spins true and straight. The forks and shock have not been set-up, the winning bidder can set them up or re-valve them to suit their weight and riding style. The bike still retains alot of it's original mounting hardware, new hardware has been added to replace incorrect style non-original pieces. Unlike most 1981-83 RM's, the left and right airbox covers have not been drilled for added airflow (sometimes somebody took care to drill them correctly, some look like somebody went crazy with a drill and didn't know when to stop), so you can keep as-is or add additional holes if you need more air. The original DG pipe is in excellent shape but it does have a minor ding on it's rearside by the water pump (see photo), and like most early aluminum silencers the bracket on the DG silencer has a crack where the bracket goes into a right angle, it is only on the bracket and does not affect the silencer and would appear to been like this for 20+ years at least. The bike is sold as-is, even when new Suzuki didn't offer any warranty. As the bike is freshly finished, it would recommended to recheck all nuts, bolts and screws after the first 10 minutes of riding. It is a 2-stroke and hardware does rattle loose if not checked regularly. Payment, Collection & Shipping $200.00 deposit payable upon completion of auction, balance due on collection (cash preferred) or the bike can be released upon clearance of a bank cashier's check, money order or International money order. Winning bidder to arrange collection and shipping if needed (collection from Fullerton, California 92832). For transportation and shipping, Uship.com is an excellent source for quotes. For International buyers, the bike has all it's paperwork which is typically required by shipping companies for it to leave the country. AbleCargo.com is very reliable and cost effective shipping company, for UK buyers, you can contact Able Cargo who are based in SoCal or Alan Shores at Kingstown-Shipping.co.uk who can arrange everything from there for you. Shipping costs and import duties/fees are the responsibility of the buyer.
