Vehicle Detail

Offered for auction/sale is my 1966 Studebaker Cruiser. This car is very unique in that its history is completely known. This 2 family and 3 owner car was originally sold by King Bros. in Oro Grande, CA April 15, 1966 to a Barstow, CA resident. He and his wife drove the car until his passing when his wife garaged the car. I knew her personally and when my parents had to stop motor-homing, my father bought it for a hobby project. He got it running and cleaned up and entered it into the Studebaker Driver’s Club International show at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA where it won second in class for being so original. My father later had it re-painted including the engine compartment and trunk. It was reupholstered including the headliner and carpeted inside and in the trunk. When he could no longer drive, it was transferred to me. I am the 3rd registered owner of the car. 1966 was the last year of production for Studebaker and it was built in Canada where Studebaker operated during 1965 and 1966. Only about 3,500 Cruisers were built in 1966. The car featured a re-designed grill for '66. Studebaker stopped installing their 289 ci V8 in 1965 when they contracted with GM to supply their V8 engines. The engine is a GM 283 V8 (Chevy 283 parts work and are readily available). Studebaker has a strong following so many NOS and aftermarket parts are readily available. Membership in the Studebaker Owners Club includes a monthly magazine that features many sources of parts and services specific to Studebaker cars and trucks. The car has less than 60,000 actual miles on it. I had to replace the vinyl top in the fall of 2011. Drive train is completely original and it runs very good. No known accidents. It has factory air conditioning (works great), power steering and brakes, 3 speed automatic trans, front disc brakes, and original working AM radio. The air conditioning still works on freon... it has not been changed over. I still have a partial bottle of freon that I will include with the sale. I had the A/C serviced about 3 years ago and it has been working great ever since. I also have a few repair parts including a new gas guage and power steering hoses ( they will need to be replaced) that will also be included. Both bumpers have minor dents but you have to look close to notice them. Clock does not work. Original window stickers, owner’s manual, advertising brochures, service schedule book and other written material will come with the car (note photo of literature). The car is for sale locally and has a reserve set on the auction. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Pickup, delivery, registration and any applicable taxes are the responsibility of the buyer. Appropriate payment must be received within 7 days of close of auction.
