2006 Suzuki DL1000 VStrom 15k mi Lots of Extras! Recent tires, chain & sprockets See my feedback and bid with confidence. I was the owner of Good Times PowerSports in Lubbock, TX since 1978, and I sold the dealership to Family PowerSports on the last day of 2006. I was a Kawasaki dealer all of that time, and a Suzuki dealer much of that time. I fell in love with the versatility and fun of the Suzuki DL1000 during that time, and when I sold the dealership, I decided a DL1000 would be the bike I kept for my personal riding pleasure. After looking for the right bike for a while, I purchased this bike used in April 2007, shortly after I sold my dealership. It had about 5,200 miles on it at the time, and now has 15,022 miles as of the date of this listing. (note - I still ride the bike, so it may have a few more miles on the date of sale.) I have added most of the accessories myself, and have performed all the maintenance myself. It is in perfect mechanical condition and is ready to go anywhere. It is in very good cosmetic condition, but as would be expected with any 15,000 mile bike, is not without minor cosmetic blemishes. When I got the bike from the previous owner, it had the scratches on the right fairing, and the small ding in the top of the tank, that you see in the photos. The bags have a few shoe scuffs, and the left saddlebag lid has minor scratches from a tipover in a parking lot. There aren't many noticeable cosmetic flaws, but keep in mind it's a 15,000 mile bike. If you want a flawless new bike, buy a flawless new bike. This one is extra-nice, but not cosmetically flawless. As I mentioned, I installed most of the accessories. The extra-tall Cee Bailey windshield is perfect for me, and gives MUCH better passenger wind protection. (I had them custom-make it a little wider than their normal windshields.) You may have your choice of EITHER this tall windshield OR the stock windshield. I grew tired of guessing how fast I was actually going, as the speedometers on these read about 10% faster than you are actually going, so I installed a programmable speedometer calibrator from 12oClockLabs.com. What a great investment! Now the speedometer is correct within 1mph. Because the speedometer drive is from the front sprocket, this also allows adjustments for gearing changes, keeping the speedometer accurate under any conditions. This bike has a ton of accessories, all to make it the best sport-touring bike it can be. Everything that has been added is detailed below. All oil & filter changes performed using original equipment Suzuki oil filter. Air filter replaced about 18 months ago with original equipment Suzuki air filter. Photographs show bike with either of two seats. One is the stock seat. The other is a stock seat that I built up taller by cutting foam from another bike seat and adding it over the stock seat foam. I then covered it with genuine sheepskin. You will have your choice of EITHER ONE of these seats that you prefer. (but not both) The taller seat gives significantly more leg room on the highway, and is a comfortable reach to the ground for me. (I'm 6'4" tall. If you are much shorter than 6'2" or 6'3", you may find it a stretch to get both feet down with the taller seat.) The driver's part of the seat is about 2 1/2" taller than stock, and the passenger portion is about 1" thicker than the stock seat. In summary, you are buying an excellent motorcycle that has been optimized for two-up sport touring. The only reason I am selling the bike is that my travelling companion prefers the luxury of a Kawasaki Voyager XII, so that's what we have now. For me personally, this VStrom is the perfect bike, and I would keep it forever, but while never unhappy with this VStrom, she slightly prefers the passenger accommodations of the Voyager.
