1961 Ford Thunderbird Convertible Turquoise with Turquoise Interior 390 Engine with 3x2 Ford Tri-Power Carburetor Setup! 1961 Ford Thunderbird Convertible. 390 CI Thunderbird Engine with a Period Correct Ford 3 x 2 Carburetor System, Cruise-A-Matic Automatic Transmission, Swing-Away Steering Wheel, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Top System, AM Radio & More! The exterior of the car is the original Turquoise color with a white convertible top. The paint on the car is in good driver condition with good appearance and shine. The exterior chrome bumpers are original and in driver condition. All the stainless steel trim is complete and in good condition. The glass in the car is excellent and that includes the windshield. The front fenders and hood are excellent with no rust of damage. The doors are excellent and in nice condition. The rear quarter panels are in good condition with nice trunk drop-offs at the bottom of the quarter panels. The rear trunk lid is in good condition. The floor pans in the car are in good condition as shown in the pictures. The white convertible top is in good condition with a nice plastic rear window. The power convertible top system goes up and down properly. There is one limit switch that is sometimes temperamental and shuts down the top system for a minute or two. The top system has a new convertible top hydraulic pump, a new set of convertible top lift cylinders and a new hose set for the convertible top cylinders. Under the hood the car has the 390 Thunderbird engine with a Ford correct 3 x 2 carburetor system. The induction system is a Ford 3 x 2 carburetor setup with correct intake, carburetors and air cleaner. This system is NOT original to this particular Thunderbird but is a correct Thunderbird system for a 1962-1963 Thunderbird. The 390 engine runs good and is nice a quiet. The Cruise-A-Matic Automatic transmission shifts properly. The 9 inch rear-end is quiet and the power brakes work properly. The power steering works properly along with the Thunderbird unique Swing-Away Steering Wheel. The factory power windows work properly. The front suspension has been rebuilt in the past. The exhaust system is in good condition and quiet. The headlights and taillights work properly. The temperature does not work properly the correct temperature and the car does NOT overheat. The factory AM radio is correct but does not work. Years ago a Sun Tachometer replaced the stock clock in the dash. The tachometer works properly and looks period correct in the dash. The car has a later model set of 15 inch steel Thunderbird rims with almost new whitewall tires. The hubcaps are Thunderbird caps from a later model car. The car has a spare tire in the trunk. The interior of the car is in good condition. The dash pad is excellent. The gauges look good along with the unique aluminum on the dash. The console is in good condition with a nice console lid. The seats in the car are in good condition and correct in appearance. The power driver’s seat goes forward and backwards but not up and down. The carpet in the car is in good condition. The car has color matched seat belts. The door panels are in good condition. The sun visors are original. Overall this Thunderbird has a good appearing original style interior. This 1961 Thunderbird Convertible was purchased several years ago by the previous owner in Oklahoma. Overall the car has a good appearance with nice options and a great cruiser.
