Vehicle Detail

This car is originally from the Southwick MA area – my father bought it from a farmer there in the 1960s. It was in good original condition when he bought it. I restored this car in the 1970s, drove it locally for many years, but it’s been up on blocks in my garage since 1995. (I’ve become a Model A restorer in the meantime – and it’s time to part with the Model T.) As part of my restoration in the 70's, I removed the body, engine, drive train, wheels, axles, etc – and started with the frame – replacing parts as needed, and eventually working on the engine, replacing valves, rings, etc. I took apart and cleaned everything that could be taken apart - repairing and replacing in the process. The axles, springs, wheels, drive train, and more were all restored, with bushings, spindle rods, etc, being replaced as I went. I had all the nickel plated parts re-plated, replaced the radiator coring, wiring, etc. After I completed the mechanicals, I had the upholstery and paint done professionally. (I have a fairly complete list of parts that I bought (somewhere) in my home.) The engine is original to the car, as are the wood top bows, fenders, seat springs, and much, much more. It will need very little work to get it back into shape for driving, but if you intend to tour extensively with it, you might consider more extensive work. I have never added any “modern” upgrades to the car, such as an electric starter, demountable rims, turn signals etc. In the next week I'll replace the plugs, add some fuel, and try to get it started for the new owner. The interior is in great shape, and the paint is in good shape - there is one area on the rear of the car where the paint has bubbled a bit, and some touch-up paint could be done to edges of fenders if you are particular. Also, the left front headlight lens has broken, but I probably have a spare one. It is being sold “as is”, with many spare parts if you want them - including an extra set of running boards, extra carbs, muffler, radiator, steering column, etc. Please contact me with any questions you have – as I know the car quite well. I will store the car for a reasonable time, but you are responsible to pay for and arrange for shipping. On Apr-28-13 at 12:25:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Sun April 28 Update Since several people have emailed me about my progress in getting the car started this weekend, I though it appropriate to update the listing with what I did yesterday: 1) Added new fuel to the gas tank 2) Checked all the wiring, and tightened all the connections 3) Checked that the carb has gasoline getting to it (by loosening the fuel flow line where it enters the carb) 4) Removed the old Champion X plugs and cleaned them 5) I tried to find replacement plugs - because the Champions look pretty bad - but found that no auto parts place west of Boston had any suitable plugs 6) Connected my 6 volt wet cell (from my Model A) to the T 7) Got a spark from each coil (felt good about that:-) 8) Cranked away about 20 times 9) I got it to puff and fire, but it wouldn't stay going 10) Got tired of hand cranking and stopped I'm pleased that I had a spark and that all the electrical connections are fine - and I've got fuel going to the carb, and it's firing, but the fact that it won't continue to fire makes me think it's some combination of fuel flow or spark plugs (the plugs in the car are over 20 years old at this pt).
