Vehicle Detail

This is a 1960 Plymouth Fury two door hardtop Golden Commando car, original motor and trans, later model non-tapered axle rear end. Power steering and power brakes, "toilet sea" trunk. aero steering wheel, big back window "sky window", original Plum Red metallic car that was once repainted black (not a good job, very thin). This car has been of the road for some time and will need a resto, the sons of the original owner were going to restore it but found out they were in over their head. it will need a trunk floor, lower rear fender and lower front fender patches, all available after market. This car was sold new in Atlanta and has been a GA car all it's life. frame and suspension is perfect, a couple of rust through spots in the front floors about 2 or 3 inches in diameter, there is no rust in or around the cowl area, rain gutters, windows,or firewall area.there is some rust on the lip of the passenger side trunk lip. I have all the stainless for the car and it's in great shape, a few dings mostly on the trim arond the coves on the front fenderson, but it is 53 years old. This is an original 361 Golden Commando 395 car, it does have the special air cleaner, the original Carter four barrel carb. The motor is stuck from sitting in the previous owner's garage for 18 years, but is absolutly complete along with the transmission. For 129 pictures, go to Fotki under daddywarbucks front bumper: straight rear bumper: a few dents from the jack slots grill: perfect front fender cove trim: great glass: front has a few scratches rear window: nice side windows: nice doors and quarters: nice top: nice hood: few minor dings in the front tail lights: nice driver, on backup light damaged rear seat: good and solid Steering wheel: deteriorated dash: complete except for the speaker grill and wiper switch. This car is sold with a bill of sale, that's all that's required in GA, check with your local DMV or whatever. I am an honest seller, I recently bought another car that I have been looking for forever and this one has to go. Your welcome to inspect the car or have someone come take a look, ask questons and ask for additional pictures. Nothing to hide here, it is what it is, nothing more and nothing less. On Apr-24-13 at 08:44:57 PDT, seller added the following information:I have reason to believe this is one of the very few (1 of 54) 1960 Plymouth Golden Commando 383 cubic inch 395 cars that came from the factory with the 383 cubic inch motor instead of the 361, the block casting number, 2120229 which indicates a 361 motor, but the engine ID pad on the front of the motor is stamped P 38, indicating a 1960 383 cubic inch motor, the casting date, the assembly date, and delivery date are all in correct sequence, and a motor build date of 1223, meaning the motor was assembled on December 1959 and was the third motor assembled that day, The block was cast in October of 1959, assembled on December 2nd 1959 and the car was delivered in January 1960, again, all in perfect sequence, the VIN verifies the delivery date, a reliable source has informed me that 4 of these 383 Golden Commando 395 cars were shipped to Atlanta, the rest went to Charlotte, NC. Since this car was delivered to and sold in Atlanta it's very strange that this high dollar car for it's day was not optioned with AC, especially considering the brutally humid and hot summers we have down here, and none of the 54 383 commando cars produced were optioned with AC. I have not contacted the Chrysler Historical Services to order the original IBM punch card that would confirm this car as a 383 car, so take all this for what it's worth, The person I bought it from had the car in his garage for 18 years and bought it from the original owners, He swears up and down after talking with them that it's a real 383 car, so this may be 1 of the 54 produced. Since the motor doesn't have any VIN info like the later cars, I can't be certain that this is the original motor, but a knowledgeable source informed me that 1960 Desoto's were produced with 383 motor's that had 361 casting numbers like this one. The source told me the casting number is for an industrial 361 which would have a thicker casting and would easily take the overbore from a 361 to a 383, as you can see, all the 395 Commando motor parts and the red block with the gold valve covers and the special gold 395 air cleaner, the dual point distributor, the Carter AFB are all unique to 395 Commando motors.
