Vehicle Detail

This is an incredible example of a well maintained and very original 1971 Corvette Stingray. It's in beautiful shape for 42 years old. It's had one repaint approximately 25 years ago and at that time the color was changed from green to red. The paint shows incredibly well with a few flaws expected over 25 years. The car has only 94,290 original miles and I am the third owner. The original owner owned the car for the first 40 years. The engine (LS5 454) was completely overhauled at 90,196 miles at the cost of $8,970.00. The transmission and rear end were R&R'd at 86,782 miles along with adding Hooker competition headers and custom exhaust at the cost of $4,446.00. There was extensive bumper to bumper maintenance that included replacing bushings, hoses, motor mounts, gaskets, seals, etc....that was also done at the same time as the drivetrain (86,782 miles). It has the Turbo 400 Transmission with the 308 rear end with PosiTraction axle. The power steering works great. The A/C is present but needs to be connected. There are less than 4,200 miles on the overhaul which shows it's barely broken in. To say the least this vette runs very strong, smooth, tight, and fast! There are NO mechanical issues. The interior is all original and looks amazing with the exception of the 2 cracks in the center console near the power window switches. I was going to replace the plastic cover but haven't got around to it. The leather seats look and feel nearly perfect. No cracks or fading in the dash pad. All factory gauges and interior lights work as they should with the exception of the oil pressure gauge which just needs to be reconnected. There is an aftermarket oil pressure gauge mounted below the dash on the passenger side as seen in the photos. This has the much sought after TELESCOPING TILT WHEEL. Makes it very easy to get in and out of the car not to mention more comfortable to drive because you can control how close the steering wheel is to you and at what angle. Being 6'4" I love that feature!! The headlights and window wipers work great as do all exterior marker lights, tail lights, and reverse lights. The factory tachometer and speedometer function properly. Even the factory clock works! The original exhaust manifolds and distributor go with the car as well. The pictures speak for themselves. This is a beautiful example of good ole' American muscle car history. The t-tops and removable rear window make this a blast to drive on sunny days and the front chrome bumper and the rear split chrome bumper can't be beat. That little bit of chrome on either end frame this beast perfectly. To take it back to near 100% original would require repainting to the original yellowish green that it was....but, come on, it's a vette and what looks better on a vette than Corvette Red ?!! That's my opinion, but to each his own. As with any antique car this is an "AS IS" sale. This vette isn't a trailer queen but rather a very high quality driver to be enjoyed and driven or taken to the next level and made into strictly a show piece. The new buyer can decide. The car is definately worthy of either option. I wouldn't hesitate to jump in it and drive it cross country....it runs that good. I put 400 highway miles on it in early March and it ran flawlessly and I averaged 17 mpg going 75-80 mph ! How's that for an efficient big block!! I was only able to put a limited number of photos on eBay. If you're serious about the car and would like to see undercarriage photos I'm happy to email them to you. Feel free to email me an offer if you'd like. NO LOWBALLERS. I understand the market is a bit soft right now but I also know what this car is and that it is in far above average condition. This is not a fixer upper or project car. NADA value ranges are LOW (fixer-upper) $21,820.....AVG (20 footer) $38,420 .....HIGH (near "show" quality but not 100 pt car) $49,565.... I'm not looking to get AVG value on the car....my reserve is set much below that taking into account the temporary soft market we're in. This will be a great investment for the lucky buyer. So, bid with confidence and bid to win. I'm proud of my 100% positive feedback and it's important to me to maintain that. I want the buyer to be happy and excited about their new Vette! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask before the end of the auction. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time for any reason. Buyer is responsible for arranging shipping but I will help facilitate on my end as needed. If you want to fly in and drive it home I'm happy to pick you up at Salt Lake City International Airport. Thanks and Good Luck!!!
