First: if you have little or no feedback or no recent eBay activity then you MUST contact me before bidding or I will summarily cancel your bid, no exceptions! If you are outside of the US, please contact me before bidding as well. Up for auction is an unmolested 1976 Bonneville 750 twin (T 140v). This is a ‘barn find’ and is basically in the condition I found it in, but now with less dust, cobwebs and surface rust; its only sin was being stored in a barn for more than a decade. The old gentleman who sold it to me said that when he parked it, it ran well and had low miles, and after inspecting the primary gears and clutch assembly I would say that he was accurate. The odometer does not function so the reading of 9 miles is not correct but it does run strong. After putting a new battery in, cleaning the carburetors and putting in fresh spark plugs, it started right up! I was tempted to do a full restoration on this bike, but it polished up so nice that I changed my mind; it looks nice in its original patina and you can see exactly what you are getting. I drove this bike for about 50 miles and it rides excellent! It has that rich, deep throaty growl that the 750 twins were famous for. It has a Boyer electronic ignition and usually starts on one kick. As far as I can tell from the shop manual, everything else on this bike is original except the paint on the gas tank, which needs to be repainted anyway due to chips and a flaking area in the paint (see pictures). This is a numbers matching bike and would be a perfect ‘total restoration’ project, or be wonderful to drive around as it is. If you are bidding on this bike however, you must keep in mind that it is a 37 year old machine and is by no means a ‘new’ bike. A solid understanding of classic Triumph motorcycles is recommended for anyone buying one of these wonderful machines. Please look carefully at all of the photos and ask questions before bidding. Some reality: The bike has only a side stand, there is no center stand but the mounting lugs for the stand look to be intact. All of the chrome has some surface pitting from light rust; the worst is on top of the headlight basket and a little on the rear wheel (see photos) but overall the chrome looks pretty good and should hold up nicely with the regular application of modern chrome polish. The bike has clear and open Ohio title that will be transferred to buyer upon full payment. A $1000.00 non-refundable deposit via PayPal is required at the close of auction, with the balance due within 7 days of auction close, via cashier’s check or direct bank transfer to my account before bike or title will be released. Buyer responsible for pickup and/or shipping. I will co-operate with your shipper or I can recommend one that I have used. I will store bike for up to 30 days from auction close to allow winner time to arrange shipping. Motorcycle is sold as is/where is. No warrantee is expressed or implied. I reserve the right to end the auction early if sold locally. Thanks for looking and happy bidding! nOn Apr-23-13 at 06:08:47 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve just lowered!
