Vehicle Detail
1978 Ford Fairmont drift car. This car was built for the exclusive use in an episode of the hit TV series; Fast N Loud. The car was built by Richard Rawlings and Aaron Kaufman. The build costs were over $40,000 (at shop cost). It was heavily featured in a season one episode and has been replicated in model form and on tee shirts and other show memorabilia. The car features extensive high-dollar modifications and only resembles a Fairmont in that the body is original. An original and totally rust-free low-milage was sourced by Richard and Aaron with the intent of building a top tier drift car. The car was stripped and major modifications were made to it. They started with a built 1986 Mustang 5 liter motor with an E Cam, Edelbrock Air Gap Intake and a 750 Demon 4bbl carburetor. This was mated to a Mustang T-5 manual transmission with short throw shifter and an 8.8 posi rear end with 4:10 gear ratio and C-Clip eliminators. They connected a custom built exhaust system with crossover pipe and Flow Masters. Once done with the driveline, they completely reinvented the suspension including Hotchkis lower trailing arms, solid upper mounts on the rear axle, adjustable upper strut mounts, KYB shocks and over sized sway bars front & rear. They then went after the brakes with Aerospace 5 lug disc conversion with dual rear calipers (The second caliper is actuated by a Wilwood hand lever to induce oversteer for drifting.). The car is shod in 20X8 & 20X10 Savini rims w/245/35 20 & 285/30 20 Nitto tires. The rims and tires alone retail for nearly $3,000. Once finished with the mechanicals, they flared the front & rear fenders and installed a full custom roll cage including door bars. Inside the car, they replaced the original interior with Corbeau race seats including 4 point race harnesses, full custom gauges and oversized tach with shift indicator. To make the car even more sinister; and to promote the show, they covered the car with a chrome vinyl wrap applied to the exterior including authentic custom Gas Monkey Garage graphics and a killer hood ornament picked out by Richard himself. This is a serious and famous car for track events (you can't build anything near this competitive for the price) that is street legal and can be driven everyday in comfort and style with cold A/C & a Pioneer Super Tuner am/fm/cd unit. Buy it to show or take it to the track. This is a must have for any serious fan of the show and will appreciate in value.Pictures of Richard and Aaron with this car are used with permission. All pictures and description are rights reserved and distribution or use without written consent is strictly forbidden. This car is being listed at one quarter its cost without further reserve. Bidders have the option of clicking buy it now and owning the car without worrying about being out bid or once the first bid is made, the buy it now option will disappear and the car will sell to the highest bidder. As they say on the show: This car is 'badass' and a sick car to drive and drift in. Once you get the feel of the drift, you will blow people away in this thing!!!I am available to answer any questions for the duration of the auction and can be reached at 860-883-3998. The car is in Spartenburg SC and is available for inspections and test drives for the duration of the auction. Thanks and good luck.
