Vehicle Detail

Hello fellow Jag Junkies, Isn't it amazing how fast time flys by? It seems like, maybe 15 years ago I was selling Jaguars new in Columbus Ohio and I had a brand new, 1971 Jaguar XKE V-12 Coupe for a demo. Man...Life was good.... Well, it was acutally 42 years ago and today I can hardly get into an XKE, but I have one. With a large handicap van factory that my sons run, I, Dad, am free to play with my 30+ car collection and build projects. This is one of "those" projects. What you are looking at today is a virgin 1971 XKE 2+2 V12 coupe. It has a real 32,185 miles on it. I have the Ohio title issued may 23, 1974 where it was bought as a Demo from Jag Cleveland. It has been off the road for many many years probably due to a dropped valve seat. (a common problem when they overheated). So what rust on the car is "sitting too long" rust, Not "Ohio salt roads" rust. The interior of this car is actually still usuable and completely intact. (right down to the AC vents and choke knob). My plan was to install a V12, fuel injected, HE XJS engine and trans in the car so it would be actually usable. Anyone who has ever had any dealings with the 4 stromberg carbed V12 knows that the 20 minute, push-pull, coughing and spitting, cold start process, really dimenishs the overall driving experience of the V12 XKE. They really do drive pretty well and are "comfortable" for an E-type. Even for big guys like me. So with the HE fuel injected V12 and the upgraded transmission from an XJS(which you can buy for peanuts), this is a very pleasant car. I know this because I had a 1976 XJ12C and I put this same HE engined XJS running gear in it and it was a very lovely, usable car....that I wish now, I had never sold... Anyway....That was my plan when I got this 71 XKE.....Well, I have to have a moment of reality here....I have a number of other serious projects currently underway and am spending more time in England,so I am letting a couple projects go.. This car is structurally sound...the doors are good and the door boxes are solid. What the car needs is a couple new floor pans installed, then a several metal patch panels, right rear wheel arch, some strengthening of hinge box section on Nose, and several small holes repaired. All the glass is good and chrome, especially hard to get, window chrome, is there and good. The engine is still in the car and heads are on but it is missing the intakes, carbs and some bits. As I said the interior is acutally uasable (except for sagging headliner). The 1971 has the pretty little bumpers and this is a wire wheel car, and obviously you repaint the car another color. So whether you finish the car as it was originally or finish the car as a fuel injected, driveable E-type that won't strand you and more importantly, your wife. This could be the car for you. I have a low reserve and the car will sell. If you want to see it or have someone look at it for you, just let me know. It is here at our Atlanta area handicap van factory. Good luck and happy bidding.... On Apr-16-13 at 15:22:50 PDT, seller added the following information: YES,I CAN LOAD THE CAR IN A SHIPPING CONTAINER AT MY FACTORY FOR OVERSEAS SHIPPING FOR A COST OF $200 WHICH COVERS METAL WHEEL CHOCK BLOCKS AND PROPER NYLON TIE DOWN STRAPS AT EACH CORNER. WE HAVE MUCH EXPERIENCE WITH THIS AND IT WILL GET TO YOU AS IT LEFT. Thanks, Bob
