VINTAGE 1956 FORD VANETTE STEPVAN CAMPER! If your looking to restore a slice of americana, you've found your project. These ford vanettes are not around much anymore and usually not in this good of condition. I go to many car shows and have never seen one. Camper versions this clean are especially hard to find . Almost the entire body is aluminum, therefore the van is nearly rust free. These are very cool trucks and have unique art deco styling similar to a metro. This would be great to restore to original but these step van/trucks are also becoming very popular with rodders and make great rolling advertisement vehicles, mobile stores, food trucks, or mobile studios. There is plenty of room in the back for cooking equipment, speed parts, t-shirt shop, tattoo parlor, massage parlor, screening room or? It would be perfect to sell vintage magazines, comic books, or car books at car shows. There are many possibilities whether you leave some of the camper stuff in it or take it out. This van has a nice body and runs great! Here are all the details. DRIVETRAIN The van runs great. It has a 223 six cylinder with three on the tree. The engine sounds perfect and has no leaks. It doesn't smoke at all either. Runs cool. Fuel pump is electric and new. original style fuel pumps are still available that have the vacuum pump for the wipers. Brakes work but need adjusted. It's plenty driveable with them as-is though.Transmission works perfectly and clutch is fine. Has surprisingly good torque considering the size of the van. All gears work fine but I have not driven it at highways speeds. I've just had it up to 35-40 to see that the gears work. Carb will need rebuilt or at least cleaned. The van runs great but I can tell the carb isn't right. Is driveable some now but will need the carb work before you go too far. Wheels are original 16" split rims with old tires. Probably usable around town but they are bias and aren't good on the highway. Original hubcaps. Mechanically the van is very good but needs usual maintenance from sitting for years. Has new plug wires but should have the usual plugs, rotor, cap, tuning, etc. also. Has two fuel tanks but does not have valve to switch between them. Both should be cleaned although I'm not positive they need it. I have it running on a boat tank now. Should have new tires, fluid change, plugs and stuff like that but it really runs great and the motor is super smooth and quiet. Engine running: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGk88D_P5Cc&feature=youtu.be VIDEO OF IT DRIVING: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=IGtymibc2_M BODY For a '56 van, the body is in exceptional condition. The majority of it is aluminum and is nearly rust free. The body for the most part, is very very straight and very rust free, as you can see in the pics. It does have a couple spots on the front area below the front side window that has been repaired. There is filler on the drivers side where a dent was fixed there and another dent further back on the drivers side. Nothing major. Minor rust pitting in front passenger side halfway down from the side window. Rust around windows and any other areas in the pics is surface rust only. From the front seats back, the body is aluminum. Glass is in good shape and rear window and screen is included. I just had it out getting it repaired when the pictures were taken. INTERIOR Interior is pretty basic and pictures tell the story. Most wood paneling is usable but needs replaced. Drivers seat is in good shape. Table goes down and converts to a bed. Bunk bed folds out above bed but has no cushions. Cabinets and countertops in good shape. Sink and stove look fine. Fridge door needs repaired and is off now. I don't know if stove or fridge, or sink work. This does have a bathroom also and a holding tank. The van has a separate solenoid and connections for all camper electrical stuff and it's not hooked up. I don't know if the interior lights, stove, fridge, or any of that stuff works. Will be easy to hooked camper electrical back up. LightsPrevious owner said it worked. Also has a furnace that does not have a fan so you can run it without running the battery down. The van also has a propane light. Propane connections look fine and has the newer style connection for the tank so the propane stuff most likely works. OVERALL This is a great classic stepvan to restore back to original or have one of the most unique vehicles at the car show. Either way, they get lots of attention and have enough room to do almost anything. Make a custom motorhome to pull your show or race car? This vehicle is sold as-is. I take a lot of time to get all the details and it is unlikely that I missed anything or made a mistake. Look at the pictures well and ask questions if your unsure about anything. Thanks. On Apr-17-13 at 06:14:24 PDT, seller added the following information: For some reason, the driving video will only work if you cut and paste it. Sorry. On Apr-17-13 at 11:40:11 PDT, seller added the following information: The reserve has been lowered since the previous auction. PLEASE do not bid unless you really want it. I had a couple bidders before that I offered to sell it to after the auction, for the same amount that they bid, and it didn't sell. This was shortly after the auction ended and they had bid. They had no obligation to buy it at that point but it begs the question, why did they bid in the first place? Please don't bid unless your serious and sure that you want it.
