Vehicle Detail

1974 B200 Dodge Royal Sportsman 5 Passenger Van For Sale By The Third Owner. This top of the line van for 1974 is an unrestored survivor with only 61,380 miles that needs to be owned by a collector who will preserve this rare piece of Dodge Van history. The paint is at least 90% factory paint and may be 100% factory paint as there are only two areas that might have been touched up. No rust/rot ever and no evidence of any accident damage. Original interior. This van was rust-proofed when new and the floors appear to have been painted with a Rustoleum type of paint to prevent rust. This vehicle has NEVER been driven in the snow and has always been garaged for the winter. This van was sold new in Canada on 4/25/74 by Georgetown Chrysler Ltd., Georgetown, Ontario to a family in Mississauga, Ontario who garaged the van for the winter and used the van to tow their camper trailer. The original owner sprayed oil on the undercarriage and in the wheel wells when it was stored for the winter as an additional rust prevention method. Both the second owner and myself have garaged this van year round and have never driven it in the winter. This van is a true survivor and is un-restored. 90% or more of the paint is original. The drive-train and interior are original and the van only has 61,380 miles and only had 59,185 miles when I purchased and imported the van in April of 2008. The van does not have a title as Ontario does not issue titles. The registration essentially serves as the title. I have all of the documents from U.S. Customs, the Ontario registration and paperwork on the sale of the vehicle from the original owner to the second owner. I had no problems registering the vehicle in Connecticut and Connecticut is strict when it comes to documentation. Equipment and Options: 360-2V, 3.23.1 (non sure-grip) axle ratio, AM/FM Non-Stereo Radio, Power Steering, Towing Package, High-Output heater, Flip Open Side Windows, optional cloth insert Parchment interior and two-tone paint; Medium Gold Metallic over Light Gold. There is a welded on class III or IV trailer hitch and a 1970's style trailer brake controller. The original owner added Thrush (brand) aluminum running boards and uni-lug Superior (brand) chrome slot wheels. Please note that most of the photos were taken on a cloudy day the first time the van was taken out of the garage this year so please excuse the dirty areas, especially the tires. I have to drive over grass that tends to be wet to get in and out of my garage. Additional photos available. The van comes with a factory parts book, a factory service book, an aftermarket service book, dealer brochures and two large dealer display posters (for 1977). The tires are new and only have a few hundred miles on them. Additional spare parts etc. such as NOS bumpers, NOS moldings, NOS tail lamps etc. are available at an additional cost. The factory white painted 15" steel rims go with the van if the buyer wants them. The spare tire appears to be the original and the vinyl tire cover is in good shape. The van has a few dings, chips and scratches from 39 years of use. The carpet has some sun fading, some of the interior vinyl trim panels have some tears and a seam came apart on the driver's seat (see photos). There is some dark gold paint on the light gold paint at the rear of the right rear wheel opening molding. This could be from a paint touch up or could be from a poor masking job by the factory. This area and the right fender area behind the headlamp are the only two areas where the paint may have been touched up. The outer edges of the running boards have some scrapes and paint transfer from the van moving when I have trailered the van. The running boards should clean up nicely. There is a small rust spot on the gutter above the driver's door opening from a gutter mounted CB antenna. The pressboard ceiling is hanging a bit in one place and the plastic trim above the side doors is cracked and appears to have been replaced previously. This van draws lots of attention at car shows and cruise nights as you never see vintage passenger vans. The van took third place in class at the Carlisle Nationals in 2009. The van would make a great tow vehicle to go with your vintage Airstream etc. camper trailer, vintage Chris Craft, Chrysler etc. boat or your collector or race car.
