HERE IS A VERY CLEAN DRIVER IN THIS 1968 CHEVROLET CORVETTE COUPE WITH MATCHING NUMBERS 327CI/350HP L-79 MOTOR AND MUNCIE 4 SPEED TRANSMISSION IN THE FACOTORY BRITISH METTALLIC GREEN COLOR (VERY RARE!) AUCTION MAY BE STOPPED AT ANY TIME.Vehicle came out of South Carolina. Previous owner has had the car for quite some time and was slowly restoring it in his garage in his spare time. Recently, the car was tuned, had the brakes overhauled with new calipers and lines, and various other mechanical servicing. This was an older restoration done in the late 1980s, with lots of receipts and service history dating back that far (all available). OPTIONS:Manual steeringManual disc brakesAM/FM Radio15" rally wheelsSidepipes (did not come with them but they were added, from a 65-67 Corvette)Pop-out rear windowT-tops4 speed manual transmission327ci/350HP L-79 MATCHING NUMBERS blockUnder the hood lies a virtually all stock and unmodified L-79 327ci V8 motor with factory 350hp. Meticulously serviced throughout its life (with complete rebuild and head work done in the late 1980s, with paperwork). Mechanically it fires right up and sounds great along with the nice and throaty sidepipe exhaust system. Transmission is solid and shifts good without any noises or grinding and clutch is excellent. I drive the car about once every other week for short trips around down or every once in a while I'll take it to a cruise night on the highway. It has never let me down and always performs great. Interior is basically all stock except for the upgraded 71 and up high back seats. Door panels in excellent shape. Dash is very clean. Nice console. Seats in good shape throughout with minor wear. Nice carpet. Overall beautifully presentable for a high end driver.EXCELLENT CHROME throughout (front and rear bumpers were rechromed a few years ago and look great).Underside has a SOLID frame with NO rot or major rust other than some on the surface and some undercoating peeling off in spots. GOOD birdcage. Windshield pillars do have a few pinholes but appear in one piece as well. The old girl is NOT perfect by any means of course so please keep that in mind when bidding. Paint is in FAIR shape throughout, and although it looks fairly good from 20 feet, it has various imperfections as you would expect from it being over 30 years old, but it has held up rather well. Various small chips, Couple of minor fiberglass cracks on body, minor scratches, a couple of larger areas by the rear near the gas filler tube where paint was touched up and is a bit faded, some air bubbles on the center of the hood, etc. Not working: wiper door (stays open), radio, a couple of gauges not reading right, horn, clock, e-brake (needs new cable), perhaps a bulb or two should be replaced here and there where needed. Missing: spare tire (carrier assembly is all there), one of the letters from rear "Corvette" lettering. Front lower valence has a fiberglass crack from scraping at one time. So overall she is not perfect and will need some form of TLC depending on how nice you want it to be and what you plan to do with the car. Please note, I cannot remember every single issue with the car, nor do I know everything wrong with it, as it is after all over 50 years old so keep that in mind.If you just want a GREAT LOOKING TURN-KEY DRIVER then this is the car for you.
